Isaiah 29:13-14

The New King James Version Chapter 29

13 Therefore the LORD said:

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths

And honor Me with their lips,

But have removed their hearts far from Me,

And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,

14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work

Among this people,

A marvelous work and a wonder;

For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,

And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”

verse 13) as much as people claim to draw near to God with their words And with what comes out from their lips . see isaiah 29:11-12

11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”

And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”

12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”

And he says, “I am not literate.”

you see its right in front of but you don't want to acknowledge it .

so they take their hearts from God ( same as walk the walk or talk the talk but not truly believing just acting especially when it comes to God ) . but really not showing the true reverence to God or (fear) but only showing fear to what man says or tells you what to do . way to kick God to the curb. now Isaiah has confessed his own and his people,s uncleanaed lips when he was called to God in Isaiah 6:5-9

5 So I said:

“Woe is me, for I am undone!

Because I am a man of unclean lips,

And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;

For my eyes have seen the King,

The LORD of hosts.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:

“Behold, this has touched your lips;

Your iniquity is taken away,

And your sin purged.”

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

“Whom shall I send,

And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

9 And He said, “Go, and tell this people:

even much later after Isaiah, Jesus say the very words to the pharisees in his day Matthew 15:1-9,mark 7:5-8

matt 15 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men

Mark 7:5–8 NKJV

Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?” He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.”

Now God is talking to Isaiah verse 14 with his response saying i will do wonderful things among this people? what is this wonderful work ? will answer later!

but the second part of this verse we can see something of what Paul is telling the people of corinth when he said in 1st corinthians 1:18-19

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

19 I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. and his preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness but to the rest of us whom are saved is the power of God , all this is good news we dont need the uncleaned lips we need the power of God through the Cross of Jesus the Christ!

so let us remember that the cross of christ should move us to humble worship. NO precept of men look back at verse 13 no matter what it may be . can do what the the wonder of the cross has done for us . nothing in this world can and i mean nothing .

Isaiah 29:15–22 NKJV

Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, “He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? Is it not yet a very little while Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest? In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel. For the terrible one is brought to nothing, The scornful one is consumed, And all who watch for iniquity are cut off— Who make a man an offender by a word, And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, And turn aside the just by empty words. V15.) these are the wise ones trying to hide from the Lord because of their sinful plans to do not what God has for them to do. so they seek to be hiden in the dark places so (they think) that not even God sees them (not too wise if u ask me) because God sees all weather in the light or in the Dark! the should be trying to discover the truth in that same type of effort go into your worship closet is what they ought to be doing ! look at psalm 139:12 12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,

But the night shines as the day;

The darkness and the light are both alike to You. so there is no where to hide from God!

v16) you know that these men who think they are so wise that they only have turned the word of God upside down only because some humans believe that are not created in the image of our God but it is ritten in Genesis 1:26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

but these so called wise men think like a potter that it is something they have made not God . but it is the clay questioning the potter or the pot that was made asking the potter did u make or did i make myself? hmmmmm

which truly means they have no understanding of how all this works .
