We are looking at things in the Word of God we must always remember. We started last week remembering the main promise that God made to us and that was the promise of redeeming us with the sacrifice of His only Son. We saw how God followed through and made sure His plan for man’s salvation was completed. Jesus did it all for us and we must never forget that. . Today we are going to look at a portion of scripture that reminds us of all the benefits that come from God. We are blessed because we serve an awesome God! Let’s begin by looking at
Psalm 103:1–5 ESV
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
There’s a lot in there so let’s break this passage down and look at each one of the benefits from God we should never forget.
Psalm 103:2–3 ESV
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,

1. Remember God forgives and heals!

God forgives all of our iniquity. So the word iniquity means gross injustice, wickedness, a wicked act, sin. Look at this he doesn’t just forgive one or two of our sins, He forgives all of our iniquity. Here are some synonyms of the word Iniquity so we can get a better understanding of what God does for us. Corruption, debauchery, depravity, immorality, vice, sin. Wow that’s a lot of stuff that we’ve been forgiven for. Not only that, He also heals all of our diseases! Don’t forget what He’s done!
Psalm 103:2 ESV
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
Psalm 103:4 ESV
4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

2. Remember God redeems us and crowns us!

We must remember that God not only forgives us, but He redeems us from the pit. The word used here is the Hebrew word shakh'-ath which means the pit of hell. It doesn’t matter what your life was like before. Even though your life was hell before, He has redeemed you from there. And He did not just get you out of that place, He’s change you and crowned you with love and mercy. Wow you and I are definitely new creations. We have new lives that look nothing like the old ones. Don’t forget what He’s done.
Psalm 103:2 (ESV)
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,

3. Remember our good God renews our strength!

We have a saying at church that goes, God is good, All the time! It’s because God always satisfies us with good. It’s His character that even when we do wrong, He’s still good. The best thing is that our physical age doesn’t really matter because our real life is renewed like the eagle’s. So what does that mean? Well to understand this we must look at what it means for an eagle to be renewed. The eagle’s feathers are replaced throughout an eagle’s life. The process is called molting. An eagle does not lose all of its feathers at one time. It is a gradual process, continually renewing the feathers. It replaces their “old” feathers with new feathers. in the same we we replace our old life with our new life in Christ and God is the one who does that.
Psalm 103:2 ESV
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
Psalm 103:6 ESV
6 The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

4. Remember God who is righteous and just!

The word oppressed means burdened by abuse of power or authority. There are many who are oppressed these days. The good news for the oppressed is that God works righteousness and justice for those who are oppressed. That is awesome news. You might feel oppression
