BE AWARE! Hebrews 4:12-16

There are things we as Christians need to be aware of! We do not need to be sleeping or slumbering, but to be awake and to be aware! (Mark 13:36-look @ notes) If Jesus was to come back today, how would he find you? In what state would he find you? The word of God in Hebrews 4 shows us some of the many things to be aware of!

BE AWARE OF THE WORD OF GOD Vs. 12

-Friends if you wanna be right, don't stand on what you think or what someone says, stand on the word of God! It is the final authority! “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand!”

-The word of God is Not merely a collection of words or ideas: it is living, life-changing, and dynamic as it works in us. The word of God reveals Who We Are and what we are not. It will help us if we let it.

-Don’t just listen to The Word, let it shape your life…live out the word, and active faith... It will shape it for the good if we let it!

BE AWARE OF THE WATCH OF GOD Vs. 13

-He sees everything! Doesn't matter who you are and how well you can hide it from me or momma and daddy!

-Knows EVERYTHING about you- the good, bad ugly and loves you anyway!

- He knows about everyone everywhere, and everything about us is wide open to his All-Seeing eyes. He knows our downsitting and our uprising.. The number of hairs on our head. He sees all we do and he knows all we think. even when we try to hide from him, he sees us. we can have no secrets from God.

-Reminds me of Adam and Eve trying to hide in Gen. 3… he knew where they were but he gave them an opportunity to come out honest to him… Is he asking you the same thing this morning, where art thou? Is your walk where it should be or have you wandered astray?

BE AWARE OF THE WAY TO GOD Vss. 14-16

-The only way to God is through our great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. - the way truth and life! Not by being a good person… good ole boy

-To the Jews, the high priest was the highest religious authority in the land. He alone entered the most Holy Place once a year to make atonement for the sins of the whole nation. Like the high priest in the Old Testament, Jesus mediates between God and us as man's representative. He is our intercessor! Unlike the high priest who could go before God only once a year, Christ is always at God's right hand interceding for us. He is always there! for you! For me! For whosoever will!

-Hold fast!!!! Keep on clinging to the lord! (

2 Timothy 1:13 KJV 1900

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

-V15 -Jesus Is Like Us because he experienced all the Temptations that we do as human beings throughout his life. We can be comforted knowing that he faced Temptations... He knows what we are going through! He completely understands you, the pain, the heartbreak, the desire, the desperation, the disappointment!

-he went through all this without sinning! So he could be an acceptable sacrifice for our sins.. Without spot or blemish!

V16 - is dealing with prayer… it says to come boldly! Come with reverence, because He is our king, but also come with bold assurance because he is our father, friend that sticketh closer than any brother, and counselor- wonderful, counselor, the lord of hosts!

-Friends let's be a church of bold Christians that stands on his word- that is what this world needs! Christians that are aware!
