The New Revised Standard Version Unity in the Body of Christ

2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Dearly beloved...

We are gathered here today to witness the union between Mike and Kyle.
You know what...
May we never again take those words for granted, what do you say?
We are gathered here today...
Truth be told, the pandemic taught us a lot of things leading up to this moment, hasn’t it?
To some standing here, I bet the reality of how difficult it is to try to plan a wedding during a global pandemic has set in...
Some of us learned exactly how long 20 seconds last...
Some of us learned that through the wonders of technology just about any food we could possibly want could be delivered to our door on demand...
But you know what I think is the lesson that has stood out for me the most, and probably the reason we ought to pay attention to it most today?
We need each other.
This has been a year where we have been distant for far too long.
If I say the word “Zoom meeting” some of us gathered here are going to break out in to a cold sweat.
Some of us in this place have probably started to experience some of the depression and anxiety that comes from not seeing those most dear to them in a year.
In fact, it’s probably not out of the realm of possibility that some of us gathered here today are seeing each other for the first time in years right now, today.
We as human beings were created to be in relationship.
And that’s why, dearly beloved, we are gathered here today.

Kyle and Mike

We’re here to see the fulfilment of a relationship that’s been a little while in the making, hasn’t it?
Did you ever imagine when you met at the University of Dayton that you would be standing here today?
