The Law of the Spirit: Divine Residence
Jesus teaches His disciples the advantages of His completed ministry and return to Heaven.
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever;
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
The Advocate of Jesus: The Helper (Comforter) / He is with you and will be in you, “You are not alone.”
1. Baptized with the Spirit. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper.”
· Matthew 3:11–12 / Water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire.
· Repentance: turning away from sin; sorrow – regret - shame; changing of the mind
· Seeking God’s mercy and forgiveness
· Believing and receiving Jesus Christ
· He gives the Spirit of Life – the Spirit of Promise
Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
“For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
2. Baptized with Fire: God’s threshing floor.
· Men who love darkness rather than light / John 3:19
· There is no life, no salvation, without the Holy Spirit / Romans 8:9
3. Living with God. “I will not leave you as orphans.”
The child of God’s mantra,
“I’m never alone, I’m never alone. My savior is with me wherever I roam.
I hold to His hand, lean on His strong arm. He ever is with me and I’m never alone.”
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
The Holy Spirit teaches us, guides us, and reminds us of truth.
Every thing God does for us, everything He works in our life, and every work He does through us, is only by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is God in the world. He is God in the church. He is God in our life. His divine residence is with us and in us.
Do you want God to fill your life? Then you must live by the law
