We’ve all had music teachers, coaches, school teachers, PREACHERS and mentors that can just look at us and get their point across “you are slacking.” Of course they also know when we are “all in.” so to speak.

People who know us, family, friends as well as people who love us know when we are giving our best, they know when we are dedicated. Do you think God doesn't know when He’s is not getting 100%?

Psalm 119:33–34, 33 “Teach me your decrees, O Lord; I will keep them to the end. 34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.” Only by being open will he learn. God cannot teach man if his heart and mind are closed. The Psalmist said he would keep, or be open to, God’s commands until the end.

Now Obedience again comes into play here as well. Verse 34 focuses on Being open minded leads to obedience. It leads to understanding. A closed mind always leads to disobedience. Keep in mind at all times that “you are never too old or smart to learn from others!”

Are We Searching for God’s commands? Usually, no......if it’s not going to benefit our agenda, we don’t want to hear it......

Verse 35 tells us: “35 Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.”

Requesting—“Make me to go in the path of thy commandments.” Knowing His commandments is not enough; we must walk in them. This should be a daily request. BAM Not just knowing but WALKING IN GOD’S COMMANDS

OK, When we begin this in our lives of Searching, seeking, walking in then comes the “Rejoicing”—“for therein do I delight.” The Psalmist speaks in Psalms 1:1-3 of the blessed man and his delight. This man rejoices because:

1. He walks not with the sinners.

2. He stands not with the sinners.

3. He sits not with the sinners.

Psalm 1:1–3 “1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
Is that good stuff church? He doesn't walk with sinners, he doesn't stand with sinners(agree with) and he doesn't sit with sinners. In other words, we are to not have anything to do with sinners except point them to Jesus.

Is God “tugging”at you and your addiction to money? We must surrender our preference to money over God.

Psalm 119:36 “36 Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!” So, OK God isn’t telling us through the Psalmist that money is bad, He is instructing us that money better not be our focus over God and His ways!

Surrender of money. The love of money is the root of all evil. When we use the word money we also mean material possessions. Paul tells Timothy in a letter:

Surrender of Every body part, our body should be surrendered unto God. Each part of the body should be used to honor and glorify God.

Psalm 119:37–38 “37 Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. 38 Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you.”

Is Our Service to God focused on His Will? Are we making our Plans to Glorify God?

When God told King Solomon, “ASK FOR ANYTHING AND IT WILL BE GIVEN.” What did Solomon ask for? WISDOM TO GOVERN GOD’S HOLY PEOPLE!” What a request…So He gave good advice to all. Proverbs 3:5–6 “ 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” All plans should please God. After all, “all means all.”

Are we holding God to His Promises? He tells us what He will do for us if we are all in and then RECEIVE His promises. He promised the Messiah and delivered.—v. 38. “Reassure me that your promises are for me; for I trust and revere you.” When we are surrendered, we will accept and believe His promises.

Last week I talked about ONE in a prayer closet, and when 2-3 are gathered in His name. Are we making a Plea through prayer to God to give us strength to leave our sinful ways? Psalm 119:39 "Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good.”

It’s time to be reading church, God’s Holy Word, not parts of it to work our agenda but to be reading all of it.
