The Hope For Sexual Purity is in God’s Word

A. What I Give My Attention to Matters.

1. My son, give attention to My wisdom (Prov. 5:1a)

2. Incline your ear to My understanding. (Prov. 5:16)

B. What I treasure in Life matters

1. Keep My words, and treasure My commandments within you. (Prov. 7:1)

2. Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart. (Prov. 7:3 and 6:21)

C. What I let guide me matters

1. When you walk about they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. (Prov. 6:22)

The hope for sexual purity is recognizing that sex is useful, captivating, enjoyable and exhilarating within the confines of marriage between a male and female.

NOTE: Prov. 7:5 says “that they may keep you from an adulteress, . . . flatters with her words. and 5:3 says her “lips drip honey and smoother than oil is her speech.

NOTE: Proverbs 6:27-28 “Can a man take fire in his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched.”

ILLUST: Fire is useful. It heats a space to stay warm, it can cook food, purify metals and be beautiful to watch. But outside of a controlled environment fire can burn and destroy property and burn a perfectly good steak.

A. Sex is useful in that it is the most used method for creating other humans.

NOTE: Gen. 1:26-28

ILLUST: Sex outside of marriage has produced unwanted pregnancies which have caused people to justify the killing of 619, 591 babies in 2018. If you calculate that average since 2009 it’s 5,576,319

NOTE: Sex is useful to create human life and although sex doesn’t kill human life people out of their desire to have friends with benefits now can choose to eliminate the consequence of the usefulness of sex.

B. Sex is captivating.

1. Prov. 5:3 “her lips drip like honey.”

2. Prov. 6:25 “she will capture you with her eyelids.”

3. Prov. 7:21 “with her many persuasions she entices him; with her flattering lips she seduces him.”

ILLUST: The global beauty industry is expected to reach a value of $863 billion by 2024.

American women spend a monthly average of $313 on their appearance.

Skincare accounts for 45% of the total cosmetic products’ sales.

Every 15 seconds, 1 Avon lipstick is sold in the US.

NOTE: 2 Kings 9:30 “When Jehu came to Jezreel. Jezebel heard of it, and she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out of the window. . . “

1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your adornment must not be merely external— braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”

TRANS: These captivating feelings are to be between a man and a woman who will be faithful to a oneness both sexually and emotionally. These captivating and erotic joys are not just for anybody and everybody.

Proverbs 7:25-27 “DO not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths. For many are the victims she has cast down, and numerous are all her slain. Her house is the way to Sheol, Descending to the chambers of death.”

C. Sex can be Enjoyable and Exhilarating.

1. Prov. 7:13 “So she seizes him and kisses him. . .

2. Prov. 7:16-18 “I have spread my couch with coverings with colored linens of Egypt. I have sprinkled my bed with Myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Come let us drink our fill of love until morning; let us delight ourselves with caresses.”

The global fragrance market is expected to reach an astonishing $91.17 billion by 2025.

In a “Men’s Journal” Article by Britany Smith 20 women were asked if they like when men wore cologne and some of the responses do not help with sexual purity.

NOTE: The passion that comes with touching, kissing, smelling these wonderful alluring fragrances is truly an experience and feeling like no other. These senses given to man by God can bring experiences of Joy and exhilaration like no other. But they are to only be in the confines of marriage betwen a man and woman. When these are perverted even the simplest of affections are tainted and unenjoyable.

ILLUST: Odd hugging of men (homosexual stereotypes) and why I struggled for years with being a hugger.

As a person who was sexualized at a very young age, like more and more kids today, I was unable to process any form of affection or touch outside of sexual thought.

Intimate touch between a male and female can be enjoyable and exhilarating in the context of forever oneness.

Prov. 5:15-19 “Drink water from your own cistern and fresh water from your own well. Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be yours alone and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. As a loving hind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be Exhilirated always with her love, for why should you, my son, be Exhilarated with an adulteress and embrace the bosom of a foreigner?

NOTE: I Proverbs 7 the adultress tries to assure the young man that they will not get caught v.19-20. But notice Prov. 5:21 “For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he watches all his paths.”

CLOSE:

1 last text I want you to think about and then we are done for today.

1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.” This context Paul is referring to food as well as sexual immorality.

Sex is Useful and it can be enjoyable and exhilarating. But it it should not be master over any of us. It needs to be experienced in the controlled and pure environment of marriage between a male and female.

Our prayer should be that we and our children understand the wisdom of sexual purity. We need to see sex in a right perspective to truly know its joy and Exilaration.

I understand some of us thought we were doing it right and all the sudden we found ourselves single and now what, how do we cope with knowing these things about sex and not longing for this again. Well there is nothing wrong with desiring this joy in life however this desire cannot master us, and man does not live on sex alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. I know thats not what Jesus said to Satan but I often substitute in my head whatever temptation is trying to get me to not obey Christ. Single or married we all fight the same sexual purity battle and so we keep fighting because if we give up the enemy will take over and destroy our lives but if we keep fighting by God’s grace we will find sex to be the most useful, captivating, enjoyable and exhilarating things we get to experience as men and women.
