Today we are continuing on with our series. We must always remember everything God has done for us and all of the benefits we have by following His instructions to us in His word. We have been bombarded with things from the world that can discourage us if we don’t remind ourselves of these benefits. These things can also bring doubt into our lives and get us to operate in fear instead of faith. We must remember and never forget that we serve the Most High, Almighty, All knowing God. So let’s get to know more of the things that we already have because we serve the one true God. Are you ready? Got your Bibles? Good turn to
Psalm 103:8–9 ESV
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.

1. We must remember God’s steadfast love!

God doesn’t hold grudges like we tend to do. I think that is why it can be hard for us to really understand His unconditional agape love. It’s that God kind of love that causes God to be slow to anger. Now that doesn’t mean He doesn’t ever get angry, d but He is slow to get to it and when He does get angry and we repent, He forgives us because of His steadfast love. We must always remind ourselves of His awesomeness!
Psalm 103:10–12 ESV
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

2. Remember that God doesn’t keep score!

Once again, God’s love triumphs. He doesn’t deal with us according to the way we would deal with us. In other words, His love for us is so much higher than human love. So He deals with our sin by removing it as far as the east is from the west. He doesn’t keep score. He never brings up our past but deals with us in the present and gives us a future and hope. He has great plans for all of us to live life abundantly. The fruit of the Spirit, which we studied in our last series, taught us that God has placed in us the ability and potential to live lives that overcome no matter how hard it gets. He has enabled us to grow and move forward. So He never hold us back and He never keeps score. We must always remind ourselves of His awesomeness!
Psalm 103:13–14 ESV
13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

3. Remember God’s compassion towards us!

That word compassion means: sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. That’s what we want to do for our children whenever they are going through some of the tough things that life throws at them. We want to be sympathetic towards them and we want to alleviate whatever causes them pain. God does the same thing for us, His children. We work on living according to His word because we have a respectful “fear” of Him. No we don’t fear Him in a terror way but we fear disappointing Him by disobeying Him. We need to realize that we were paid for with ultimate price, the life of Jesus! We must always remind ourselves of His awesomeness.
Psalm 103:17–18 ESV
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

4. We must remember that God’s blessings are generational!

When we are sold out to God, living the way Jesus told us to, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, His love and righteousness go on for many generations. Talk about leaving a legacy. God’s blessings go on for generations. Parents have a desire to see their children go much farther than they ever did or could have done. We work on college funds, buying a home that could be passed down someday. Some parents create a portfolio with bonds or insurances to make sure their children are well taken care of. But the one thing we cannot do is get them to live according to God’s word. We cannot give righteousness to anyone because technically we don’t have it. But God does. And when we make it a point to follow Him, He imparts His righteousness on us and our children’s children! We must always remind ourselves of God’s awesomeness!
