The Lord of Grace
The Lord of Grace
Salvation is all about the grace of God.
What is Salvation? What is Grace?
You can’t save yourself and you cant earn Gods favor with the things you do.
READ Ephesians 2:8-9 “By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast”
Salvation does require something.
All salvation requires Faith.
This seems simple, it’s not easy.
a. Faith in Jesus Christ means believing that He is LORD. READ Romans 10:9
Have you ever thought about what the word LORD means?
LORD - refers to a master, owner, or a person who is in a position of authority.
So lets think… DO you believe that Jesus is your Master? That He is your Owner? That you actually belong to Him?
READ 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body”
-Grace set us free from sin. We belong to Him.
- He calls us to live in obedience to His rule.
a. The problem is, many in the church want to “confess that Jesus is Lord,” yet they don’t believe that He is their master
The call to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is open to everyone.
We don’t get to write our own job description. If Jesus is Lord, then He sets the agenda.
Your life now belongs to Him.
God has a plan, agenda, and calling for you.
If Jesus Christ is Lord, then your life belongs to Him
You don’t get to tell Him what you’ll be doing today or for the rest of your life.
We are going to look at a Scripture where Jesus says these commands are the most important.
Which commandments are the most important commandments?
Foundation as a Disciple and for our Church.
Read Matthew 22:37-40
Multiply: Disciples Making Disciples It All Comes down to Love
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.
Jesus is telling His Disciples, it all comes down to love.
What does that look like? What are ways we can love God? & Love others?
Do we learn from Him everyday? Do we fellowship with Him? Do we obey everything He commands?
How?
Even though we can’t see the LORD like the disciples did Peter talks about this in scripture.
READ 1 Peter 1:8 “Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory”
Following God is not about rules even though rules and and His commands guide us.
Its about loving God enjoying Him.
Some people think we can love God and live anyway we want too.
READ John 14:15
We will keep commandments God gives us.
Loving others is a command God gives.
If we don’t love the people that we can see, then we don’t love God, whom we can’t see.
A. True Love is all about sacrifice for the sake of the ones you love.
READ 1 JOHN 3:16
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers”
Are you willing to lay down your life for your brothers or sisters?
Are we willing to call someone and minster the word of God or pray with someone sacrificing our time ?
Love for God and obedience to Jesus Christ cannot be separated.
Gods love changes us from the inside out and redefines every part of our lives.
COUNT THE COST
You will be challenged to what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
Everything you study is the purpose of Applying it to your life.
NO APPLICATION NOTHING CHANGES
INFORMATION, APPLICATION = TRANSFORMATION
A. The WORD of GOD was made to go in you, then through you.
Before you set out to teach other people to be disciples of Jesus, you need to examine your heart and make sure you are a disciple.
READ LUKE 14:25-33
Think about what Jesus is say and how it should affect the way you approach the relationship you have with Jesus.
Jesus is speaking directly to you.
