Introduction

As I was praying about what to share today
I was confronted by the fact that Robert was a young man - my heart broke for his family and friends - I was at a loss for words
But then I met with Robert’s brother David and learned about Robert - and I heard about Robert’s love for Jesus and dedication to Jesus
I felt compelled to teach a passage that I believe Robert would have approved of from the Apostle Paul

2 Timothy 4:6-8

The New King James Version (Chapter 4)
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Context:

For Paul, Timothy was his son in the faith - he loved him
Paul had just got done telling him - Be watchful, endure, be an evangelist, fulfill your service

Paul had a different perspective of what was going on

Paul knew that this was not the end for him; it was the beginning of eternity following a life lived faithfully for Jesus Christ
He had fought the good fight, trusting Jesus Christ until the very end
He was ready for a heavenly reward from the God who he had served
Ephesians 2 The New King James Version (Chapter 2)
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

I am convinced that Robert held fast to three principles

Slavery to sin is the real death - and that’s how Jesus finds us
The salvation that comes through Jesus Christ makes us alive and lifts us up to be with Him
It says that God will spend eternity pouring out the riches of His grace and kindness towards us

Robert fought the good fight of faith until the end. He has received the crown of righteousness.

I have heard of Robert’s absolute joy and confidence in Jesus - he really loved Jesus so much

Robert would be upset right now if I did not give each of us the opportunity to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If you are confronted with the fact that our life here on earth is so short compared to eternity
You realize that you want to surrender your life to Jesus
Please raise your hand… I would love to pray with you
