The whole of chapter 7, apart from verses 17–24, is concerned more specifically with marriage and celibacy.
Far more important is the fact that Paul here, and especially in verses 3–4, says that husbands and wives are equally obligated to each other and therefore are not to have sexual relations with others.
More precisely, Paul is not ordering the Corinthians to marry, but is saying that it may be necessary for men to marry in order to avoid sexual immorality
Although Paul uses a grammatical imperative, he is really not ordering anyone to do anything. The meaning is closer to FrCL’s rendering, “it is better for each man to have … .”
The word translated “fornication” or “immorality” is plural, implying more than one act
The temptation to is implied in the Greek, as is TEV’s rendering “so much.”
The tense of the verb touch suggests a single act. A woman means “any woman.”
Touch a woman is a Greek euphemism for “have sexual relations with a woman,”
“Now, I am going to speak about the matters that you wrote to me about.”
Let us pass now to the questions you asked me in your letter.
The two words now and concerning, when they are used together, usually mark the beginning of a new section (see verse 25; 8:1; 12:1; 16:1).
