Joseph - the adoptive father of Jesus
Everyone in the Christmas story has something to say, except Joseph. He does not say one word. Joseph is completely silent in Scripture.
Actions speak louder than words!
Remember to focus our attention instead upon our fathers’ action.
Joseph’s actions provide for us a Lesson on True Righteousness.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.
Just because we have rights, does not mean we have to always exercise them.
Joseph’s actions provide for us a Lesson on Responsibility.
20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,
25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.
There is always a price that comes with obedience and being responsible. But the price is always worth paying once you make the decision and step out on faith to do what God asks you.
Joseph’s actions provide for us a Lesson on Raising Children with Religion.
39 So when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.
40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast.
27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
“A child is not likely to find a father in God unless he finds something of God in his father.”
