During this time in history, we have experienced alot of change. How we communicate has changed, how we socialize has changed, how we shop has changed and even how we fellowship has changed, we have seen so much change in our day that we often ask the question, “will things ever get back to normal?” And I don’t know about you but my answer has always been a quick “no” because I realize that even with the openings and relaxation of mandates, there are some people who no longer feel comfortable going back to the old way therefore we have created a “new norm”. Even how we do Church has changed, we have something called virtual Churches, for some, our preaching has been more centered around the troubles of a pandemic than it has been about saving the souls wondering during this time, there has been a change in how we worship, a change in how we plan evangelism and even a change in our execution of our vision, but in the midst of all this change their is one thing that has not changed, and that is the God who sits on the throne controlling this senario and if he has not changed then his word has not changed and if his word as a whole has not changed the his word concerning your life has not changed, and you would be crazy to think that a pandemic could change the promise God made you, for he established your path before the foundations of the world therefore before the was ever a virus there was a promise, before there was ever a lockdown, there was a promise, before there was ever a vaccine there was a promise, can you tell somebody around you, the promise still stands and I cannot die until I see my part of the promise, I know people are dying by the hundreds now but its still not my time to go because I haven’t seen my promise yet, God told me he was going to do some things and I will not be moved until I move into my promised land, tell somebody you can’t die here.
So if God does not change and nothing he spoke has changed then his desires have not changed concerning his bride which is the Church, and it is our responsibility to serve our present age the way he desires. The Church was established on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 in the upper room with the infilling of the Holy ghost but before the power was released the assignment was released because having power without a purpose is a dangerous thing, some people have to keep power in order to feel significant, some people need power to hide insecurities, some people need power in order to prove haters wrong, but when you are operating with power but not purpose as my Bishop would say you end up climbing up the ladder only to get to the top and find our you’re up against the wrong building, be very careful when you come into leadership and start talking down to those who are where you once were, because it only takes one slip up to put you right back and the bottom of the organization. This is why Paul has to make a distinction of the gifts of the Church but he says that the manifestation of the spirit was given to profit everyone involved, Ephesians 4 tells us of the five-fold ministry the APOSTLE, PROPHET,EVANGELIST, PASTOR AND TEACHER but these are only given to euip the local Church to go out and build the kingdom and we are chasing titles with no assignment, chasing vestments without the armor of God and we become a loud wagon. A wagon is loud because there is nothing in it so it can move faster, but the full wagon moves slower but it moves steadier and I’d rather move slow and steady knowing I’m carrying something than to move fast because I’m not carrying anything, but can you tell somebody I’m carrying something, after all I’ve had to endure just to get here I realize God used trouble to fill up my wagon, he used hurt to make sure when I stand to minister I’m carrying more than just an idea but I’m carrying a revelation of who he is, tell somebody you’re carrying something.
But even though we have all of this power in the Church and all of these giftings, we are still have no effect unless we have the glue that keeps us together and that is unity, if we cannot unite because of our differences or our need to be at the top, we will have services and no change, convocations and transformation, conferences and hating one another, we must realize every one has a place in this next move whether you like it or not. Paul says if the eye gets upset and says im leaving the body, does it not remain apart of the body? YES, if the hand says im leaving the body, does it still remain apart of the body? YES. You don’t have a choice in what body you are apart of, but if you’re not connected to the body you’re supposed to be apart of, you will always feel incomplete and out of place, but when you get to the right body, tell somebody you’ll know when you get there. So it is our diversity that makes this thing work, each member supporting one another and fitly joined together. Because at the end of the day the Church is God’s idea and he will keep it until the day of Jesus Christ. Tell somebody we ARE going to make it.
Jesus has come through 40 and 2 generations to bring salvation to the world and on his journey to the cross he picks up 12 rejects who couldn’t make it through the jewish schools so they became fishermen and carpenters and trained them for 3 years as they watched him heal sick bodies, raise the dead, and calm raging seas and now the time has come for him to go away and he has to impart one more thing to them before he leaves because they will never walk into the fullness of their power as long as he was around becasue people have a tendency to try and be anointed by association, but he tells them in John 16 that its for your benefit that I go away or else the comforter cannot come.
