“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”
St. John 3:16-17
Martin Luther argued that Christians must understand their salvation as sola fide — “by faith alone.”

2. Divine Love Expressed — “He gave his only begotten Son”
3. The Divine Purpose — “Whosoever believeth in him should not perish”
4. The Divine Goal — “But have everlasting life”
