Chosen

Intro:

You can learn a lot about a person by what kind of music they listen too. Seriously, If you want to know how saved someone is look at their spotify account. Back in high school and college I played a lot of sports and the most import item on game day was my blue ipod nano because I needed to get hyped for the game. Now I was a good kid, but I wasn’t really saved wanna know how you knew? I would download my music illegally, but the music I was paying for was Kanye, Linkin Park, Soulja Boy, and of course Eminem. (Until I collapse I am spilling these raps until the day that I drop...). While those songs would get me hyped I had done something I dont think anyone else on my teams had done and I downloaded all the climactic speech from my favorite sports movies I downloaded:

Al Paccinos “Inch by Inch” from Any Given Sunday...“I know if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch because that is what living is. The six inches in front of your face.”

Friday Night Lights - “Being perfect is about looking your friends in the eye and knowing that you didn’t let them down, because you told them the truth and that truth is that you did everything that you could, there wasn’t one more thing you could have done...” or the show Clear Eye Full Hearts....Can’t Lose!

And of Course Coach Herbs Speech from Miracle, My Favorite… “Great moments are born from great opportunity, that is what you have here tonight, that is what you have earned here tonight. One Game. If we played ‘em 10 times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight.”

Orginally, when I started listening to these speeches I listened to them as if I was in the audience…receiving this message. But eventually, I listned to them so much that i had them internalized and I would dream about me giving those speeches and one like them. It birthed this dream of influencing, inspiring and challenging people with my words. But I didn’t believe in my own dream...”Who would listen to me” “What message do I have that will really impact people. “ “Who do I think I am?”. What I didn’t realize was that it wasn’t my dream. And I didn’t know this in High School or in College, but God was beginning to call me to play a role in the greatest mission the world will ever know. God’s dream for me was bigger than what I could see. I hoped that one day i’d be a coach of an underdog sports team, would say some clever words that would inspire some kids to win a state championship or something and someone would want to write a movie about my team

Fast forward to today, where every week I stand before hundreds of people and have the opportunity to share the most import message they will ever here. When I stand here today, and look back on who I was, even look at who I am now…I can’t believe God chose me. He not only saved me a redeemed me from my sin, but he chose me to give all of my time to do the most important things a person can do with their lives…and I get paid to do it!
