Let Go of everything that keeps you from doing God’s will!

Have you ever had anyone that offended you?
Offense happens when some says, does, or have something that hurts or violates another person.
Genuine, authentic, and absolute freedom comes from when we submit to Christ
As we continue our series through the life of David- good, bad, ugly- Today we will learn how David spare the life of Saul and let go of any bitterness and offense.
Read the Passage 1 Samuel 24: 1- 4

Let Go of the words of others that influence you to do wrong.

David men were wrong, and they misinterpreted what God said about their enemy
·David did not consider Saul, his enemy; but his Father and the anointed vs. 11
PS 1: 1 Blessed is the man that walked not in the counsel of the ungodly
Killing Saul would have been huge – Saul was unarmed, king, their 3000 soldiers to confront while trapped in a cave.
Read 1 Samuel 1 Samuel 24: 5-7

Let Go of Offense/ Bitterness & Let God deal with those that offend you

Mat 24:10 -And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Have you ever had anyone that offended you?
Luke 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
· Offense happens when some says, does or has something that hurts or violates another person.
· The spirit of offense is one of the most effective tools that Satan uses to get people out of the will of God.
· Just a fisherman uses a worm to catch fish. Satan uses the spirit of offense to trap us. - John Bevere
· He used it on Eve to eat fruit- she thought God was holding something back; she wants to be like God.
· He used it on Cain to kill Able- He got upset because God chose Able's sacrifice and not his.
Col 3:12- 15
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Romans 12: 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Although David did not kill Saul, he realized and was convicted by the Holy Ghost to let go of the bitterness he had toward Saul. By cutting off a piece of Saul robe it was like cutting out Saul's authority as the king.
Read 1 Samuel 24: 8-11
Let Go of Fear and resentment seek to reconcile broken relationships.
Roman 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men
· With friends – make amends, ask for forgiveness, seek to understand
· With family
· Although David's attempt to reconcile with Saul was unsuccessful, David was obedient to do his part.
