1 Corinthians 1:10 (ESV)
10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

Paul declares God’s Ideal

The church must be united
++No Division
++The same mind
++The same judgement

Today we will teach about Divided Judgment

Judgment is defined
++A mindset
++A viewpoint
++A way of thinking

We must see vital things in the same way.

Some say
++What I do in my personal life is my business!
++No one can or should tell me what to do!
++I make my own decision!
You are right!
++You have the ability to do what you want
++You have the right to choose
++You can do whatever you want to do with your body
++Besides it is yours....right?

Leader’s relationship to the Church

1 Corinthians 4:1–2 ESV
1 This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
Leaders should be regarded
++As Servants of Christ
++As Stewards of the mysteries of God
There Job is to
++Be faithful to the call of God
++Be faithful to declare revealed truth

God calls Samuel

1 Samuel 3:1–4 ESV
1 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision. 2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said, “Here I am!”
Samuel was ministering
++Not to a crowd
++Not to a church
++To the Lord
What the priest could not see God revealed to him.
1 Samuel 3:19 ESV
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.

God reveals secrets

Deuteronomy 29:29 ESV
29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
God chooses
++What is revealed
++To whom it is made know
Daniel 2:47 ESV
47 The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.”

God places people in the body

1 Corinthians 12:18 ESV
18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.
God puts it together
++As it pleases him
++For his purpose
Ephesians 4:11–14 ESV
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Paul reflects on his relationship

++To God
++To the church
1 Corinthians 4:9–15 ESV
9 For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. 11 To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, 12 and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; 13 when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things. 14 I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. 15 For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
Paul had been faithful
++To the call of God
++To the people of God

His challenge to them was simple

1 Corinthians 4:16 ESV
16 I urge you, then, be imitators of me.

There was Divided Judgement

1 Corinthians 5:1 ESV
1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father’s wife.

How could this Happen?

Some may have felt
++It is not my business
++It’s a personal thing
Paul addresses
++The lack of unity
++The apparent acceptance
1 Corinthians 5:2 ESV
2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
Where is
++The weeping
++The Mourning
Sin should be a cause for
++For concern
++For judgement by all
1 Corinthians 5:4–6 ESV
4 When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. 6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
Paul warns the church
++To be Holy
++To live righteously
++To encourage others to also
Hebrews 10:24 ESV
