A grain of mustard seed Matt. 13:31 – A growing kingdom (The government shall be upon his shoulders and of his kingdom their shall be no end) A woman with leaven Matt. 13:33 – An expanding enlarging
i. Leaven is often a type of sin in the Bible but here it is showing that having the kingdom of Heaven within causes expansion
1. of the heart
2. Of the church
A treasure hid in a field Matt 13:44 – Easily undervalued A merchant man seeking goodly pearls Matt. 13:45 – Sought after by wise men A net cast in the sea and gathered every kind Matt. 13:47 – The Lord is always fishing for more A king taking account of servants Matt. 18:23 – Everyone is a servant of this kingdom (that is why all will be held accountable at judgment) A householder hiring laborers for vineyard Matt. 20:1 – The Lord is looking for all, all receive the just reward for laboring whether you start young or old. A king who made a marriage for his son Matt. 22:2 – The Marriage will be official one day. Seek the Kingdom of Heaven first.
Everybody – All inclusive seek ye (YOU)
i. Whosoever still means whosoever.
Urgency - Seek implies leaving everything else dropping whatever you are doing and seeking the kingdom of heaven RIGHT NOW. Don’t take another step.
i. Jeremiah promises us we will find the Lord or “I will be found of you” when you seek me with your whole heart.
Priority – First before anything else, seeking and finding the Kingdom takes preeminence over everything or we don’t find it or receive it.
i. The Rich young ruler was willing to do this
ii. An example of this is the man who sold everything he had to find the pearl of great price.
The Kingdom at hand to you Luke 21:31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
a. John the Baptist taught it - Repent ye for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
b. Jesus Brought it - Thy Kingdom Come
c. Pentecost inaugurated it
d. The Disciples sought it
a. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
The Kingdom Come upon You - Luke 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. The Kingdom Come In you –Luke 17:20-21 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
The difference between the two, The religious leaders, (Holiness Fighters) had the Kingdom of God come upon them in seeing the miraculous things Jesus did, but I would rather be what is promised in Luke 17:20-21 behold the kingdom of God is within you. Jesus Prayed “Thy Kingdom Come” – He was setting up the infrastructer of this kingdom. There is coming a day when that Kingdom WILL be the Political power of the day. When it will be the world system of government. It will be glorious.
Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
