Illust: I couldn’t find a video to demonstrate this, but you all have seen it on TV at one time or another. Where let’s say a guy is in the hospital hooked up to the machines. His heartbeat is being monitored. Bump, bump… then it flatlines. Beep… so they throw the paddles on him and jumpstart his heart. Bam… and his heart starts beating again.
My father-in-law has experienced that several times. He is now 70 years old and it’s a miracle he’s still alive! He’s had several heart attacks since the age of 50, and two or three times they put the paddles to him! He said, “Greg, it hurts! They say you’re not supposed to feel it because you’re almost dead, but trust, it hurts!”
Just as we need to have a healthy heartbeat to stay alive, we need to have a spiritual heartbeat. And so the big challenge for us today is to CHECK OUR PULSE.
If you could check your spiritual pulse, would you be alive, or would you need the paddles? Zap!
