Portrait of A Godly Mother

The Bible is full of examples of mothers. Some good, some not so good. I like to thin that this lady we are talking about this morning fits into the good category. Oh she made her mistakes just like all of you will, but she had one thing going for her, not only was she good, she apparently was a Godly mother.

1. Devoted to her husband -

A. Communicated with him (didn't hide things behind his back) verses 3-10

1. Children learn by example and they learn a lot from Mom. It is very important that there is an open honest relationship on both sides. We're just emphazising Mom's role today.

B. She was submissive/ respectful but not a slave Eph_5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

2. Devoted To Her Home - She was barren in the beginning, yet she had not left the role of a wife. I undestand the necessity for women to have to work today, but I also know the Word of God is not moveable type. God has given women a very special gift, a very special role and when we give it to God he uses it for his glory in so many miracalous ways.

A. She was willing to do whatever it took to help her children - even to the point of doing wthout herself.

3. She was devoted to her God

1. She recognized in verse 6 the Man of God 9 Angel

2. She knew what it was to watch and pray (Manoah knew how to pray)

3. She understood the importance of obedience
