WHEN WE SIN

Intro. - As sinners we take comfort in the knowledge that the blood of Christ washed us clean. We agree to that in principle, but how do we react when confronted by our sin? Two Old Testament examples show the response to being confronted with sin.
Saul - The Process Of Resistance 1 Samuel 15
Command - go, attack, and destroy the Amalekites v3
Disobedience - partial destruction vs8-9
Pride - monument to his own honor v12
Deception - lies become truth v13

Rationalization - vs15-21
Confrontation of principle - to obey is better than sacrifice - v22
Resignation - v24
David - The Process Of Correction 2 Samuel 11-12
Sin - David’s sin with Bathsheba & killing Uriah ch11
Confrontation - the parable - 12:1-10
Conviction - David admits sin 12:13
Repentance & restoration 12:13-14 there are still consequences
Concl. - Correction from sin always comes through the Word, either by the means of the Holy Spirit or through a person applying the Word as in the case of Saul & David. When correction comes how are we to act?
Let down the defenses - we will be tempted to defend or attack
Listen carefully to what is said
Evaluate the correction in light of Biblical truth
