Title - The Revealing of the Son of Man
Text - Luke 17.26-30
Luke 17:26–30 NKJV
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
Key Questions
Who is the Son of Man?
Why did Jesus always call Himself Son of Man?
Why did bro Branham refer to his ministry as Son of Man ministry?
Quotes from William Branham
24 Jesus said, “When the Son of man is revealed from heaven.” Let me close by saying this: that the Son of man is now being revealed from heaven. “Will it come after while, Brother Branham?” It is now. And I hope I won’t have to make this so personal of this own meeting, but that your spirit within you that’s give you by God, can read what I’m talking about.
The Son of man has already come from glory and is revealing Himself for the past few years to His Church in mercy, showing them His great Presence, doing the same things that He did when He was here on earth, revealing Himself like He did to Abraham, before the destruction.
He has come now in mercy, revealing Himself to the Church. It’s being laughed at and scoffed at. The next time He reveals Hisself, it’ll be in judgment on the world and the nations that’s forgot God and sinned their way of grace—their day of grace, rather, away. Because they have forgotten God.
And they’re doing the same thing that they did to the Angel of the Lord back there, mocking and making fun of it. But He’s here now in mercy.
58-0109 - The Called-Out
128 He also said, in Luke 17:30, “In the like it was in the days of Sodom, so shall it be in the coming of the Son of man, when the Son of man will be revealed.” The Son of man is prophesied to be revealed.
And what kind of a revelation will it be? It’ll be the revelation of His living, after being crucified for nineteen hundred years, and is raised from the dead and is alive with us. He will be revealed! Because, exactly the same things that they did at Sodom, has got to return again.
You can interpret it any way you wish to, but there it is. It’s just the facts, it interprets itself. The Word don’t need any interpretation when It’s doing it Itself. Revealing Christ in the promise of the age, that’s exactly what will come on the scene.
64-0214 - The Voice Of The Sign
45 See, He came in three names. He came as Son of man, which was prophet. And that’s what He did, He proved His ministry, by being a prophet. We all know that. Every one of us knows it. He never said He was the Son of God; He said He was the Son of man.
Now, today, He is the Son of God, which He returned back, and now He is in the form of the Holy Ghost, the unseen Person; but yet, God, the Son of God. In the Millennium, He sits upon His Father’s Throne, which He’ll be Son of David. He revealed Himself first as Son of man, a prophet; this age, through the church age, Son of man…or Son of God; and in the other age, Son of David. Three sons!
46 But you notice here, He said, at the ending of the church age, it had got in such a mess till He would be revealed again as Son of man, “when the Son of man is being revealed.” How appropriate was that mix-up yesterday! And I hope you don’t miss it.
65-0125 - This Day This Scripture Is Fulfilled

What’s in the Title “Son of Man”?

It is a title descriptive of all humans
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Job 25:5–6 NKJV
5 If even the moon does not shine, And the stars are not pure in His sight, 6 How much less man, who is a maggot, And a son of man, who is a worm?”
Psalm 146:3–4 NKJV
3 Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish.
It does NOT mean “prophet”
Supposedly prophet, because God addressed Ezekiel “son of man” many times, and an angel addressed Daniel son of man once.
If it meant ‘prophet’, why were not Moses and the rest called in this title?
Jesus used the title Son of Man in two ways -
First, to describe his identification with humanity
the Word became flesh
the Son of God was made in the likeness of men
Second, to refer to Himself as the Christ of prophecy.
the Christ will be “sent” from God
the Christ be given authority, destroy Israel’s enemy, and sit on the throne of David
Daniel 7:9–14 NKJV
9 “I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; 10 A fiery stream issued And came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, And the books were opened. 11 “I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time. 13 “I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

The extent of the Son of Man’s ministry

The most common view
the Son of Man ministry was the earthly ministry of Christ, which spanned 3 and 1/2 years
the Son of Man ministry will repeated on earth through the ministry of the seventh messenger.
Illustration #1 - The Common View of Son of Man Ministry
Illustration #2 - What the Bible really says
Biblical View on Son of Man Ministry
It begins with the 3 and 1/2 years ministry of Jesus on earth
Continues in heaven - He is at the right of majesty waiting until all His enemies are made His footstool
Continues in the Millennium
Culminates on the day of judgment - afterwards He gives up all authority to God

The Revealing of the Son of Man

Luke 17:30 NKJV
30 Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
Key questions
Is this a different day from the coming of Christ?
Does not the word “reveal” speak of the second coming of Christ?
The revealing of the Son of Man is within the context of the “second coming”
the people’s searching for the Son of Man
Luke 17:22–24 NKJV
22 Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. 24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
Matthew 24:23–26 NKJV
23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. 26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.
It will be like the days of Noah
Luke 17:26–27 NKJV
26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Matthew 24:36–39 NKJV
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
the days of Lot - was unique to Luke’s gospel
however, this was placed together with the days of Noah
this means the two events both portray ONLY ONE FUTURE EVENT
the great tribulation
Luke 17:31–32 NKJV
31 “In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife.
Matthew 24:15–21 NKJV
15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
One taken, one left
Luke 17:34–37 NKJV
34 I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” 37 And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”
Matthew 24:40–42 NKJV
40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
Jesus spoke of only one “day” connected to His coming
Matthew 24:42 NKJV
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
Luke 17:24 NKJV
24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
Matthew 24:27 NKJV
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Luke 21:27–28 NKJV
27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Luke 21:34–36 NKJV
34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
The “revealing” of the Son of Man is His second coming
Jesus’ words
Matthew 24:30–31 NKJV
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The Apostle Peter proclaimed the promise of the Lord
1 Peter 1:7 NKJV
7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
1 Peter 1:13 NKJV
13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 4:13 NKJV
13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
1 Peter 5:1 NKJV
1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed:
The Apostle John believed the same promise
1 John 3:2 NKJV
2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
The Apostle Paul believed the same promise
1 Corinthians 1:7 NKJV
7 so that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 Thessalonians 1:7 NKJV
7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,

The “ministry” of the Son of Man

Question
Why did WMB use Luke 17.30 as a reference to his ministry?
Because - Christ’s ministry on earth was truly demonstrated once again in the last days.
WMB’s ministry was like John the Baptist - a prophet “forerunner” of Christ
WMB’s ministry demonstrated the living Christ -
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Because - WMB needed a point of reference for the sake of the believers - even though the context speaks differently.
A SIMILAR EXAMPLE - Paul’s reference to his ministry
Acts 13:46–47 NKJV
46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
the actual prophcy points to Christ
Isaiah 49:1–7 NKJV
1 “Listen, O coastlands, to Me, And take heed, you peoples from afar! The Lord has called Me from the womb; From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name. 2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me, And made Me a polished shaft; In His quiver He has hidden Me.” 3 “And He said to me, ‘You are My servant, O Israel, In whom I will be glorified.’ 4 Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord, And my work with my God.’ ” 5 “And now the Lord says, Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, To bring Jacob back to Him, So that Israel is gathered to Him (For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the Lord, And My God shall be My strength), 6 Indeed He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” 7 Thus says the Lord, The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One, To Him whom man despises, To Him whom the nation abhors, To the Servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, Princes also shall worship, Because of the Lord who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel; And He has chosen You.”
Isaiah 49:6 NKJV
6 Indeed He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
Simeon’s prophecy over the Child Jesus
Luke 2:29–32 NKJV
29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, 32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

Conclusion

We believe that the ministry of WMB was a demonstration of the living Christ, which God worked in him so that the bride of Christ may be called out of the denominations to be ready for the Rapture.
We believe the Son of Man ministry continues to this day, and will continue beyond down to the Millennial kingdom and beyond until all the enemies of God are placed under His feet.
We believe that the Son of Man will be revealed at His coming, which takes place immediately after the great tribulation, wherein the whole world will see Him in power and great glory.
Revelation 1:7–8 NKJV
7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
