Introduction:

If You were like me every day in school, the day was started with The Pledge of Allegiance:

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God …”

Every day we recited the Pledge of Allegiance to be reminded that we belong to a kingdom;

that we belong to the United States of America,

we are American citizens and, so that we would never lose sight of what the significance of being in this country was,

every day we were asked to recite it to ourselves in the context of the corporate gathering of our classmates.

When you go to sporting events and civic events with the flag waving,

whether it’s the Star Spangled Banner, or whether the Pledge, or America the Beautiful, there are these barrage of reminders that we belong to a kingdom … called the United States of America.

Topic this morning is:

One Nation Under God

Text will be found in: 2 Chronicles 15:3-6

2 Chronicles 15:3–6 NKJV

3 For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; 4 but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them. 5 And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands. 6 So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity.

Houston! We have a problem!

America has a problem!

Whether it’s personal problems, Family problem,

All around us, in our society, School our church,

Where ever it is, we have major problems. If we don't get to the root of our problems no amount of technological advances in any area will not be able to keep us from going down in flames.

In 2 Chronicles 15 verses 3–6, I want to show you the root of the problem.

Verse 3 “For many days Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law.”

In those days three things were missing.

It says the true God was missing. Notice he didn't say God was missing, he said the true God was missing.

It didn't say religion was missing, it didn't say people stopped going to church.

So if they had religion but didn't have the true God that meant they had false religion.

The reason that the true God was missing is that there was an absent of teaching priests.

That is a priests (preacher) who were giving God's perspective on the matters.

A preacher declares what the word of God is supposed to be

what God says and what God thinks, not human opinions.

The third thing missing; no law, chaos ruled. No law, there was no standard by which society was operating. When there are no standards, people create their own.

In today's world we don't want to find out the truth if there is an insurrection where Laws are broken, because it may shine a negative light on a certain political group. So rather than following the law we begin to make up our own reality.

The Result of a Godless Environment

How did the chaos manifest itself? (Verse 5)

2 Chronicles 15:5 NKJV

5 And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands.

There was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in

there were individual conflict (no safety, personal & relational conflict.

Peace has to do with calm, conflict became pervasive over the land.

2 Chronicles 15:6 (NKJV)

6 So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity.

Notice it said God Troubled them with every kind of distress

Notice the principle: if God is your problem, only God is your solution

How does this work? In the New Testament Romans 1: 18 towards the end of the chapter. He talks about the wrath of God. Three times in this verse Paul says " and God gave them over" to give them over means to release his restraint. To remove his restraint is to let them have their own way.

The picture you see here of God troubled them with every kind of distress because he releases his restraint and he allows men to go their own way independently of him.

He didn’t stop Adam from eating the fruit because of freedom;

men have freedom to a point. God is Sovereign

but like a football field that has sidelines and goal lines; it has out of bound lines, it has boundaries.

Those lines do-not-move, those are permanent located lines.

But on the field, there’re a whole variety of plays you can call.

So while the lines are sovereign the plays are freedom.

You can call any play you want but you can’t step on that line because if you do

the whistles going to blow; you’re out of bounds.

So what I'm saying? in our world today, there is secularism, humanism that is happening all around us.

So God is removing himself! so that's our reality, things appear to be getting worse and worse.

So the question is, how do you function in a culture that is removing God from its center,

where God is no longer the dominating influence in the culture

how do you address that?

Verse 7

2 Chronicles 15:7 NKJV

7 But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

Don’t Give Up! Don’t Quit!

Conclusion:

We cannot depend on our government to make our future brighter; we cannot depend on our law enforcement, teachers or schools. It’s not about the laws we pass, the moral codes we enforce, the curriculum we teach, it’s about the God we serve.

Who are you serving? Self, Satan, sin, or the savior? What you do and who you serve doesn’t only affect you, it affects everybody around you, it affects our nation as a whole.

I love this nation, the USA is the greatest country in the world, but I also know that God is just and unless we as a nation repent of our sin and turn back to Him we will perish.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

1. Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I asked forgiveness of my sins, and I Except Jesus as my Lord and Savior. In his name I Pray, amen.
