Welcome:
In the presence of God and family and friends… we are here today to honor the twenty years of marriage between Tino and Laffina. As we honor their marriage, we want to recognize the Lord Jesus Christ their Savior for His role in their marriage, especially over this past year with the many hardships of loss and sorrows, and seeing Him as they keep moving forward toward many more years together. Today they desire to renew the covenant of love and commitment to each other and before God Almighty as their marriage looks ahead to many more years to come!

What is Marriage??? 1) God’s Design 2) A Picture 3) A Covenant
Marriage is God’s Creation and design.
Marriage is God’s Creation and design.
In Genesis we see that after God had created all we see He said something was not good.
Tino, He said it is not good for man to be alone. God in His wisdom created the perfect companion for him… a woman.
In that beautiful setting He brought her to him. We have seen your marriage, your love, and how God has become such a central part of your marriage and family. I believe God has brought the two of you together as well.
When God created Eve, He created her as a help mate. Just as Laffina has been such a beautiful help mate to you these twenty years. Adam and Eve together were to accomplish together what neither one of them could do alone. Adam and Eve were to rule together! A king - queen relationship!
Marriage is a picture…
Marriage is a picture…
Ephesians 5:21-33 states
And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything. For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. And we are members of his body. As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
God’s love is so deep for us that He uses the picture of marriage to express how much He loves His bride the Church. A love that was demonstrated so beautiful through the cross and His resurrection!
Tino and Laffina you get to illustrate to all who are here, family and friends, and to the world… God’s love through your own marriage!
This has been so beautifully demonstrated over the twenty years you have already had! Let me just say; knowing the two of you as I do, and your love for our Lord and for each other, I believe you will continue paint a beautiful masterpiece for all to see. Let me just encourage you to allow the Lord to hold the brush.
Marriage is a covenant...
Marriage is a covenant...
Marriage is a covenant or a promise between God and man never to be broken. The commitment you made twenty years ago and renew today is a lifelong commitment before the Lord and all these people.
We however to not enter into this covenant alone… you have each other to continue to help one another through this. And even greater, as followers of Jesus Christ, you have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
Scripture states that the fruit of the Spirit is love joy, peace patience, long suffering… If he brings about love then consider 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as it pertains to this covenant of marriage and love…
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Many times in scripture we see God giving us a symbol or something that reminds us of His covenant. His Spirit not only seals us, but is given that we remember. Today that symbol will be the exchanging of rings and your covenant will be your vows.
Wedding Vows: (Each Reads)
Wedding Vows: (Each Reads)
Tino: Laffina, I thank God for our marriage and our children. Thank you for your love, support, and encouragement. Thank you for helping me become the man I am today. You have been by my side as we created a family, a home and a life together. I feel very blessed. Over the years, we have changed and grown together. With God, we have become stronger and wiser. Today, I promise again with all my heart to love you and to honor you. I commit myself to continue on this journey, growing with you in our relationship with the Lord. I look forward to seeing how God will bless us as we grow old together.
Laffina: Tino, I stand here with you today in the presence of God and family, to reaffirm my vow to stand with you forever and to love you always. I give thanks to God for blessing me with you and our beautiful children. God has blessed us in so many ways. He has given us strength when we were weak. He has given us peace and comfort through the storms. God has taught us patience and understanding. He shows us mercy when we fall. He is our Comforter and Provider. He is for us and He will always love us. Thank you for the years filled with joy, laughter, hugs and unconditional love. Our love has made the good times better and the bad times bearable. You are my safe place. You are my love. I promise to always be by your side, to encourage you, support you, honor you and love you. It is my heart’s desire that we will continue to grow together in our relationship with the Lord.

Tino please take Laffina’s hand and place the ring on her finger stating after me:
With this ring, I pledge my love to you in our honorable union of marriage. I give it to you anew, as a symbol of the covenant renewal with you and before God, and as a symbol of my unending love for you.
Laffina please take Tino’s hand and place the ring on his finger stating after me:
