Intro

It is every believers responsibility to disciple and be discipled.

Matthew 28:18–20 NASB95
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
The command to make disciples was given to all Jesus’ followers. Even if it was only given to those present, because of the nature of the command it is thus given to all.
Once a disciple is made what is next?
Baptize them
Teach them to obey all that Jesus has commanded you.
Go make disciples.
Discipleship is teaching people how to obey and follow Christ.

So who is discipling you?
Who are you discipling?

It is the responsibility of every parent to disciple their children.

Proverbs 22:6 NASB95
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.
This is not a promise, but wise practice.
Ephesians 4:10–16 (NASB95)
10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)
11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;
13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
Jesus calls people to fill specific roles in the church (Pastors, teachers) in order to equip His church for service. This leads to your spiritual maturity.
The word “Service” is from the same root for “Deacon”
Did you know that the role of the office of Deacon was to be the example/model of how the rest of the church is to serve and do ministry?
All the church is to do the work of a deacon, which is to serve and do ministry. and it is the church’s responsibility to equip you to do that, more specifically it is the Pastors and Teachers roles to do that.
Church attendance and participation matters!
You cannot be equipped if you don’t show up.
