The Ziphites told Saul where David was located. (vs 1)
The Ziphites told Saul where David was located. (vs 1)
And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?
David enjoyed several months of peace from Saul trying to kill him.
David was busy enjoying his wife (Abigail) and the new resources he had available to him due to his covenant with his wife.
The Ziphites did not know David, but they were willing to travel 25 miles to stir up mess and confusion about David. They wanted to get an award. Furthermore, some scholars say that they were relatives of Nabal and were upset about David and Abigail's marriage.
Do not be surprised that everyone does not like you. You have no control over what other people think, say, or feel about you.. (Read 1 Peter 4: 12-16)
King James Version (Chapter 4)
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, a happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf
Saul forgot the words he said to David during their last meeting. (vs 2-3).
Saul forgot the words he said to David during their last meeting. (vs 2-3).
Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
Saul’s mind was so tormented the he did recall or did not care that he declared with his own mouth in front of witnesses that David would be the the next King.
The enemy wants us to be double-mind and unfaithful to commitments we make- but God is looking to award those that repent and stay faithful.
Read James 1:5-8 -If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Point 1- When David heard that Saul was after him again; he did not just pack up and run this time. He researched with the situation get a clear understanding. (vs 4)

David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.
David sent the spies to verify what he was told. -Notice David did not, react, or get afraid.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Point 2 - Go to the source of the conflict, problem, or situation. (vs 5)

1 Samuel 26:5 (KJV 1900)
And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.
David did not go friends to tell them about Saul, he did complain to his men about Saul, he went straight to the source. If possible, go the source of the conflict . Did not triangulate.
Matthew 5:23–24 (KJV 1900)
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Point 3- Do not try to confront or resolve a conflict, problem, or situation alone. Especially if the person fails to hear you the first time. (vs. 6-7)

1 Samuel 26:6–7 (KJV 1900)
Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee. So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
Matthew 18:15–16 (KJV 1900)
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Point 4- Do not forget who you represent when dealing with conflicts, problems, and situations. You are a kingdom citizen. (vs.9)

David denied Abishai request to kill Saul when he had an opportunity.
God’s approach is not passive; David used God wisdom to confront the situation. He did it God’s God’s way.
When your enemy go low you go high- Just do it God’s way.
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Proverbs 14:12 (KJV 1900)
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,
But the end thereof are the ways of death.
In closing, David and Abishai took Saul sword and the judge of water to prove that he was there and that he could have killed Saul.
Points 5 - Seek to please God and He will help you overcome your enemies, problems, and situations. (vs. 25)

David communicated with Saul from a distance to show him again that he wished him no evil and Saul likewise said that he wish David no harm and blessed David. This will be the last recorded confrontation between Saul ad David.
Proverbs 16:7 (KJV 1900)
When a man’s ways please the Lord,
He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
1 Samuel 26:25 (KJV 1900)
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
