The Lord Is Gracious
1 Peter 2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Have you? Have you tasted of the Lord’s graciousness? Have you experienced His salvation?
The word gracious appears 32 times in the Old Testament, but only twice in the New Testament.
Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Scriptural definition of gracious – Luke 6:35b for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. That’s being gracious.
The Graciousness of God is that His grace and mercies are forever. (Psalm 138:8)
Psalms 145:8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Lamentations 3:22-26, 22It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Jacob spoke of the graciousness of God in regard to the children HE had blessed him with – Genesis 33:5.
God said of Himself. “I am gracious” Exodus 22:27. Speaking to the fact that HE hears the cry of His children.
The blessings of God are a manifestation of His graciousness. Your blessings are of His graciousness.
Nehemiah 9:31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
Every sin that I have ever been forgiven for has been by HIS grace and mercy. Ephesians 1:7b “the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” Every unclean thought, every wicked deed, every lie told, murder committed, adultery engaged in has been forgiven by His graciousness.
We have people in the church that cannot forgive the pettiest of infractions against them.
We live, breath, and survive off the graciousness of God, yet we die in the unforgiveness of our own heart.
Jesus said, “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:15.
I fear we lack the graciousness of Christ because we have failed to taste it for ourselves.
Have you RECEIVED His grace and forgiveness?
The GOOD NEWS – READ Isaiah 30:8-18 Preach
18 “And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.” Isaiah 30:18.
I wonder if there’s anyone here this morning that the Lord is waiting on.
Is the Lord waiting on you to surrender that he might be gracious onto you? That He might forgive you of your sins, adopting you into his family and promising you an inheritance, even internal life?
