Slide 5 I’m sure you have many relationships too. We are made to be in relationships
Think about the people you like, love and want to be around
Family
Friends
Strangers for you extroverts out there
Think about those that you don’t want to be around is it you or them that is causing the problem.
Maybe you need to forgive and forget something that is keeping you apart
Toxic Relations ships
Those relationships that discourage you
Those that don’t want the best for you
If it is not you that is the problem then you may need to distance yourself from these relationships until things change
You also might want to examine yourself. Maybe it is you that has to change or take a risk to restore the relationship.
Whatever the problem is we need to work on it.
And you can do it. Especially if you are a part of God’s Family. In a relationship with Jesus
There is power in relationships and the gathering!
We will talk may about that in a few mins
What are God’s thoughts on this.

The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Jesus is quoting the Shema
Jews would pray this prayer twice every day and cover their eyes while that recited it. Jesus would have prayed this every day
Det 6:4-5
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
The Pharisees would have known exactly what Jesus was talking about
Jesus is also quoting
Leviticus 19:18
18 “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
Good samaritan Luke 10:25
How did Jesus live a relational life? Slide 15
He healed the sick
He lived in community by being in the synagogue
Luke tells us that He went to the Synagogue as was His custom.
He assembled a band of friends that helped Him in His ministry
12 Apostles
Matthew 10
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Judas was replaced by Matthias
Paul is also considered an Apostle
Slide 17
We are told to not forsake the gathering of the saints
Heb 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
He knew that some would not join Him “The rich young ruler”
He took risk in relationships that could be dangerous “Judas”
You
