slavery
When we were lost, we were the property of the devil, and did his bidding.
34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.
35 A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.
36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
Can this be the case even after salvation? Christians sin (1 John 1:9)
Freedom Bought by God
Freedom Bought by God
13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,
14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
Freedom Bought By Jesus
Freedom Bought By Jesus
5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.
Freedom Bought By the Holy Spirit
Freedom Bought By the Holy Spirit
15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Freedom FROM Sin and your past
Freedom FROM Sin and your past
7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
Freedom From Fear
Freedom From Fear
15 Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
Freedom From the Law
Freedom From the Law
Sin shall not have dominion over you
14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
6 But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.
Freedom to Win
Freedom to Win
Freedom TO Serve God
Freedom TO Serve People
13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
19 Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ.
Don’t ABUSE your freedom
Don’t ABUSE your freedom
16 For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
9 But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.
23 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.
24 Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.
Don’t LOSE your Freedom
Don’t LOSE your Freedom
Don’t go back to slavery
Yoke again to slavery
1 So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
20 And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.
Jesus warned against becoming entangled with “the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches” (Matthew 13:22).
It’s easy for us to become tangled in the deception of sin when we should be walking in liberty. be aware of anything that will entangle your freedom.
17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
