Psalm 119:89–91 NKJV
89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. 90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides. 91 They continue this day according to Your ordinances, For all are Your servants.
There are not too many things in life that last a lifetime. Even a lifetime warranty seems to have its loop holes. The numerical value of “infinity” cannot be relatable to any object in this world. But, our Bible goes to “Infinity and beyond”!

Here, 1. The psalmist acknowledges the unchangeableness of the word of God and of all his counsels: “For ever, O Lord! thy word is settled. Thou art for ever thyself (so some read it); thou art the same, and with thee there is no variableness, and this is a proof of it. Thy word, by which the heavens were made, is settled there in the abiding products of it;” or the settling of God’s word in heaven is opposed to the changes and revolutions that are here upon earth

Verse 89: “Forever”

89. In all changes God’s Word remains firm (1 Pe 1:25). Like the heavens, it continually attests God’s unfailing power and unchanging care (Ps 89:2).

is settled in—that is, stands as firmly as the heaven in which it dwells, and whence it emanated.

Psalm 89:2 NKJV
2 For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.”
Isaiah 40:8 NKJV
8 The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
Matthew 24:35 NKJV
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
1 Peter 1:25 NKJV
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Satan has five tools he typically uses to trap us: His strategy so easily besets us.
He questions the word of God
Subtracts from the Word of God
Adds to the Word of God
Waters down the Word of God
Denies God’s word
But the Word of God is:
“IS settled”- Stands firm
“Lets settle down”
“The house has settled”
The court case has been settled”
“reconcile”
“Thus saith the Lord” shows faith. DO you believe that the Word is settled? Do realize it is?
1 Kings 13 discusses a prophet who had instruction from the Lord about which way he was to be sent. Instead of following that way, he went went “another way”. Because he had not followed the Lord’s Word, he was unable to commune with the king over food and beverage. Upon his return the prophet actually lied, and claimed that he had followed the way and was worthy of communion with the king . You see, when we go our own way, and do not really truly believe that the Word of God is settled and can be trusted we fall away quickly and begin to do the unthinkable. Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way. Although he had sinned he continued to appoint priests. He became a high preist in his own power and his own might, and sought to promote and elevate his name. (Abraham’s blessing”- I will make your name great)- Not us.
Our world today tries to elevate man, and it is because they do not follow a “settled system”. The passage of Scripture in 1 Kings 13 explains that this was the sin of Jeroboam, and it was to be exterminated and destroyed from the face of the earth.
This world will try to define things like love, mercy, grace, peace, and many other aspects of the human life for you. THe world has no understanding of the characteristics of God. For God is love, mercy and peace. 1 John 3:1 talks about what kind of out of this world Love that he has given to his people. A love that is foreign to this world. The world does not know him, and its because they have not realized the Bible has been proven, established, determined, trusted, approved and SETTLED!
The Word of God is settled. It stands. It is a firm foundation. Is a relationship with the Father settled?
You are the church of today. How would our churches look today, and operate, without you? Be settled where you stand with this book.
Have you settled your place with God? Is your heart settled? Do you have an unsettled spirit tonight? Are you standing on the solid rock or shifting sand? DO you need to settle that tonight?
