What is required to be with The Lord
What is required to be with The Lord
13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
To be with the Lord for eternity one has to be called, chosen and faithful
The first two are outside of our control or there is very little input required on our part.
God chose us and called us through the Gospel.
13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,
14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
John 15:16 (NKJV)
16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
The only response required for the calling of God is obedience to the Gospel
“Faithfull”
it is something that you have to be,
It is something that is expected of you
7 “You are the Lord God, Who chose Abram, And brought him out of Ur of the Chaldeans, And gave him the name Abraham;
8 You found his heart faithful before You, And made a covenant with him To give the land of the Canaanites, The Hittites, the Amorites, The Perizzites, the Jebusites, And the Girgashites— To give it to his descendants. You have performed Your words, For You are righteous.
God call Abraham and Chose Abraham,
there was not much required of Abraham for him to be called and chosen. It was only obedience which comes by faith.
The Lord had to find his heart as faithfull before he made a covenant with him.
God called and chose Abraham in Genesis 12 at age 75
God made a covenant with Abaraham ain Genesis 17 at age 99.
The 25 year gap was the period in which God was testing the heart of Abraham, to see if he was faithfull before God could make a covenant with him that can be a seal to the promise he had recieved when he was first called.
Once we are called and chosen, we have to be found faithfull before we can inherit the covenant and promise of God.
Israel as an example
7 That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments;
8 And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
The people of Israel were chosen and were called but were found unfaithfull in the wilderness.
Those who were found faithful made it into the promise land, those who were unfaithfull died in the wilderness.
God is testing our faithfullness, during the sojouring in the wilderness.
God wants his people to be faithfull to him in all things.
Faithfull to the word of the Lord
Faithfull to the word of the Lord
11 And when all Jabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 all the valiant men arose and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons; and they brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13 So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.
14 But he did not inquire of the Lord; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.
One of the reasons why King Saul perished was because he was persistantly unfaithfull to the word of the Lord.
He was anointed, he was called but he was not faithfull to execute the word which God gave him through his servant Samuel.
let us not take lightly the word of the Lord, let us keep it.
Samuel the priest
34 Now this shall be a sign to you that will come upon your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die, both of them.
35 Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.
8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life:
9 “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
God expects us to be faithful until the point of death.
Faithful witness
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith.
He was not only faithfull to keep and do every word that was spoken of him by the prophets but also he testified of the truth
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
As Jesus was born to bear witness of this truth. We are also born in thhe Spirit to bear witness of the truth.
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
5 A faithful witness does not lie, But a false witness will utter lies.
We are called to be a faithfull witness. That is, to speak the word of God faithfully without pedling the word of God. We are witnessers of this truth.
15 So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
16 But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.
17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you,
18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’
19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
20 but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.
21 For these reasons the Jews seized me in the temple and tried to kill me.
22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come—
23 that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”
Just like Paul, the Lord has given us the revelation of the truth for the purpose of being his faithful witness to all the world.
We have to be faithful witness of this truth until the day we die.
No amount of ups and downs of life or the tribulation that comes on our life as a result of being a witness should stop us from testifiying of the Gospel of grace to whole of mankind.
Faithfull to the ministry
Faithfull to the ministry
1 Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
God requires his stewards to be faithfull
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
How God Tests his servants if they are faithfull.
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.
16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also.
18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’
21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’
23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.
28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
The servants who were found faithful with the smallest things were made rulers of many thing.
This is how the Lord test our faithfulness before he puts us into the ministry for which he has purposed and destined us.
Joseph
It was not a considence that Joseph was in potiphers house and was made ruler over all the things that he had.
God was testing the faithfulness of joseph to potiphers things before he could make him ruler of all things of God in Pharaoh’s house
Potipher found Joseph so faithful, that he did not care for anything except the food that he had. everything else was in Joseph’s hand
10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.
Daniel
3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.
King Darius found Daniel so faithful to the stewardship that was placed in his hand that he sought to put him over the whole realm of his empire.
His enemies tried to find something against him regarding his stewardship but could find none.
if we are scruitinized today will we be found blameless in the eyes of God.
17 And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.”
Concluding prayer
Make me a faithful servant
