Does anyone know which department within most companies has the smallest allowable budget to spend per year?
The safety department! Failure and stumbling in this department can cause great ramifications. The word of God keeps the christian safe, on course, and true.
We live in a world that is in trouble. It is important to realize that God is a victor over conflict- in this world.
Psalm 119:113–117 NKJV
113 I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law. 114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word. 115 Depart from me, you evildoers, For I will keep the commandments of my God! 116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope. 117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I shall observe Your statutes continually.
Double minded- divided in heart or mind. Hypocrites. Only fooling ourselves/themselves.
The word of God is able to reveal a heart that is divided.
Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
God’s word sustains us from not becoming a hypocrite. It gives us hope and keeps us safe.
The psalmist here, David has seen great moments when the Lord brought him (David) success, he fought a lion. But there were times when David’s mind was divided, got distracted; and he suffered for it. He lost sight of his refuge. The hope/trust he has recieved in time past helps him have hope in the future.
1) God invented His sustaining Word.
2) Because his word is settled, and all that is written is settled we can come to the throne boldly.
Hebrews 4:16 NKJV
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We have full access:
Ephesians 2:18 NKJV
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Vs 115- Depart from me: A barrier is formed when we follow anything that opposes Christ.
Psalm 6:8 NKJV
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
Remember the current on Echo pond the other day in the canoes.
James 3:4 NKJV
4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires.
There will be times in life you will need to stand for Christ in hard moments. It will seem easier to go with the flow or the current, but that's not what God calls us to do. If we don't, we practice lawlessness and we follow the way of this world.
Matthew 7:23 NKJV
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
3)People who follow God’s word: are able to not be ashamed.
Psalm 25:2 NKJV
2 O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.
Romans 9:33 NKJV
33 As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
Romans 10:11 NKJV
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
Philippians 1:20 NKJV
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
4) By studying God’s word, as our settled anchor, vision, and refuge, we can come boldly, being found being like Him upon His return, and not ashamed.
SO what happens when the world system wears us down or wears us out? What do we run to? Do you just get in line and follow the world? Do ALL to Stand!
Back to 119:113

Here we have, 1. David’s dread of the risings of sin, and the first beginnings of it: I hate vain thoughts. He does not mean that he hated them in others, for there he could not discern them, but he hated them in his own heart. Every good man makes conscience of his thoughts, for they are words to God. Vain thoughts, how light soever most make of them, are sinful and hurtful, and therefore we should account them hateful and dreadful, for they do not only divert the mind from that which is good, but open the door to all evil, Jer. 4:14. Though David could not say that he was free from vain thoughts, yet he could say that he hated them; he did not countenance them, nor give them any entertainment, but did what he could to keep them out, at least to keep them under. The evil I do I allow not. 2. David’s delight in the rule of duty: But thy law do I love, which forbids those vain thoughts, and threatens them. The more we love the law of God the more we shall get the mastery of our vain thoughts, the more hateful they will be to us, as being contrary to the whole law, and the more watchful we shall be against them, lest they draw us from that which we love.

SO what hope are you holding on to today? An eternal hope? If its not God’s hope, its really not hope at all. God’s word is our refuge. A place of safety, sustainability, and salvation.
This makes those who run to Him… refugees.
Refugees:
One who flees especially to another country, seeking refuge from war, political oppression, religious persecution, or a natural disaster. To become a refugee; take refuge in another country.
However, we need to get refreshed and head back into trouble as a rescuer. and fight, and stand firm for what the Word of God says.
2 Samuel 22:33–35 NKJV
33 God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect. 34 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. 35 He teaches my hands to make war, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Psalm 46:1 NKJV
1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Ephesians 6:10 NKJV
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Family situations; There is still hope. God uses weaker vessels for His glory.
Quick draws are also frequently used in indoor lead climbing. The quick draw may be pre-attached to the wall. When a climber ascends the wall, (s)he must clip the rope through the quick draw in order to maintain safety. Install your safety mechanism tonight- Do you have it readily available throughout your climb?
5) The word of God is our refuge!
As we think about God as the one who fights our battles and meets our needs, there is no better picture of that than when Jesus defeated Satan and provided forgiveness for any who will place our trust in his work on Calvary. The Word of God in pair with God is our refuge, place of safety, our strong tower, and our rock.
Story of 2 John 1:1 Rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth.
What are you clinging onto when all goes wrong?
