Matthew 27:27-56
There are deaths that changed the lives of others.
When family dies.
When friends die.
When foes die.
In this passage we see the WAYS the death of Jesus affects us.
I. The Deriding Jesus Endured. 27-32, 39-44
Isaiah 53:7 KJV (WS)
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Hebrews 12:3 (KJV 1900)
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
II. The Darkness Jesus Endured. 45-49
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV 1900)
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
John 15:3 (KJV 1900)
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
III. The Death Jesus Endured. 33-56
A. He died IN the will of God.
Philippians 1:21 (KJV 1900)
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
B. He lived IN the will of God.
Conclusion:
We are to follow Him.
Galatians 2:20 (KJV 1900)
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
