The Spirit clearly says that in later
times some will abandon the faith
and follow deceiving spirits and
things taught by demons. 2 Such
teachings come through hypocritical
liars, whose consciences have been
seared as with a hot iron. 3 They
forbid people to marry and order
them to abstain from certain foods,
which God created to be received
with thanksgiving by those who
believe and who know the truth.

“
⊹
Do not rebuke an older man
harshly, but exhort him as if he
were your father. Treat younger men
as brothers, 2 older women as
mothers, and younger women as
sisters, with absolute purity.

⊹
Give proper recognition to those
widows who are really in need. 4 But
if a widow has children or
grandchildren, these should learn
first of all to put their religion into
practice by caring for their own
family and so repaying their parents
and grandparents, for this is
pleasing to God. 5 The widow who is
really in need and left all alone puts
her hope in God and continues night
and day to pray and to ask God for

⊹
But the widow who lives for
pleasure is dead even while she
lives. 7 Give the people these
instructions, so that no one may be
open to blame. 8 Anyone who does
not provide for their relatives, and
especially for their own household,
has denied the faith and is worse
than an unbeliever.

⊹
The elders who direct the affairs
of the church well are worthy of
double honor, especially those
whose work is preaching and
teaching. 18 For Scripture says, “Do
not muzzle an ox while it is treading
out the grain,”[a] and “The worker
deserves his wages.”[b] 19 Do not
entertain an accusation against an
elder unless it is brought by two or
three witnesses. 20 But those elders
who are sinning you are to reprove

How should
we relate to
one another?
As family, as body of Christ…

From death to life;
Foreigners to family
Dead in sin
Saved by grace
As for you, you
were dead in your
transgressions and
sins, 2 in which you
used to live when
you followed the
ways of this world
…

But because of his
great love for us,
God, who is rich in
mercy, 5 made us
alive with Christ
even when we were
dead in
transgressions — it
is by grace you
have been saved.
Adopt as
Family
Consequently,
you are no longer
foreigners and
strangers, but
fellow citizens with
God’s people and
also members of
his household…

What does
the church
mean to you?
Is it family?
Is it yours?
How do you serve your
family?

Unity
but not
Uniformity
One body and one
Spirit….
One Lord, one faith,
one baptism…
One God and Father of
