Hosea 3 NIV
1 The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.” 2 So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and about a homer and a lethek of barley. 3 Then I told her, “You are to live with me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will behave the same way toward you.” 4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred stones, without ephod or household gods. 5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days.
THE WORD OF GOD, FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD
“Like Christ, Hosea demonstrates the working of repentance, redemption, and restoration.” Gertrude - https://mywindowsill.com/hosea-a-type-of-christ/
We see the Gospel in Hosea:

Repentance

We don’t know much about Gomer’s feelings or decisions - we only know her life by her actions - 2:7b - back to husband - better off
Most of Jesus teaching - continued John the Baptist message - Repentance!

Redemption

Verse 2 - Hosea buys Gomer
Christ redeemed us on the cross
Coupon redemption - check cashing - other metaphors?

Restoration

Relationship is where it ought to be - restored
Jesus restores our relationship with Him and the Father - we become children of God - we become the bride of Christ, the Church

God’s Love

Christian Cheong - Hosea: Relentless Love sermon points: (1) God’s Love Never Changes (2) God’s Love Never Gives Up
despite what we do - despite where we run - despite how stubborn we are
Jesus loves us with a relentless, faithful love - even if we don’t reciprocate
Jesus is in Hosea!
