Introduction
Here is a principal I want you to focus on tonight: “Faith in action today for faith taught tomorrow.”
I want to present two main thoughts tonight: 1) The Action Of Faith & 2) The Teaching of Faith.
1) Their Faith In Action
1) Their Faith In Action
A. Their journey to faith
A. Their journey to faith
You might ask, “Why didn’t God just bring them to this climactic moment?”
God was producing faith in them so they would trust His solution for death.
Think back to all of those 9 plagues:
The Nile (all water) turned to blood
Frogs
Gnats
Flies
All livestock die
Boils
Hail
Locust
Darkness
The constant rejection from Pharoah.
The increased labor from the task masters.
The greater the bondage the mightier the deliverance.
God knew of how He would use the Jews to ultimately take the Gospel to the world.
This experience of bondage and miraculous redemption would set the stage of their understanding of the one who would come to be “The Lamb” of God.
Personal Application:
Think back to the journey God allowed you to have to be brought to the amazing truth of the gospel.
Faith is something that must be put in you!!!
B. Their application by faith
B. Their application by faith
After all of this faith building, it is time to use their faith and make application.
Notice Moses’ instructions:
Take “Hyssop” = Faith
Without “application” there is no “satisfaction”
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
C. Their confidence in the blood
C. Their confidence in the blood
(v22) Those who had true faith in the blood would show it by their remaining in their home.
2) Their Continuing Faith
2) Their Continuing Faith
There are some things that fade out with each generation.
Illustration: I was raised up around horses. After my grandpa died so did our relationship with owning horses.
(v26) The children ask about their parent’s commitment to the Passover memorial feast.
Narrate the dialog between a Jewish parent and their child.
We have a special supper that Jesus gave us as well:
His supper He instituted during the passover feast prior to His death.
Explain the significance of the “Lord’s Table”
If I may, lets take this “passing forward” thought a little broader:
The most precious words a child can utter sound like this:
Why do we pray?
Why do you read the Bible to me?
Why do we have family devotions?
Why do we faithfully attend worship?
Why do you and mommy love the Lord?
Notice how the people responded to Moses call to action: THEY WORSHIPED! THEY OBEYED!
Remember what God said about Himself, “There is none like me in all the earth”
They were now believing that truth.
God is truly a covenant keeping God.
Conclusion
Conclusion
Is your faith continuing to believe is Jesus’ vicarious death and resurrection? To continue to believe is indicative that you had a moment in your history when you placed your soul’s dependance in Him.
Is your faith in action to where you children and family notices it? Do you make time to pass your faith forward to your children and family?
There is not only a calling of your faith to be placed in Christ but also to be nurtured into the minds of your children and family.
