This chapter shows how folks were divided over who Jesus was, where he came from, and what his purpose there was. Not only that, most of those who believed did so for their own selfish reasons. So during this period Jesus taught things that tended to offend their religious sensibilities. Why? Because God wants believers who choose to do his will, not those who try to get God to do theirs.
