The Day of the LORD
The Day of the LORD
Joel 2:1-11
The people having seen the destruction of the locust as told by Joel in chapter one, are given a glimpse of a more formidable army, that the world has never seen. This time is referred to as “The Day of the LORD”.
The “Day of the LORD” is mentioned various times in the Bible. Other prophets refer to this future time, yet none as thoroughly or extensively as Joel.
Some of the references worthy of investigation:
1. Zeph. 1:14-15
2. Amos 5:18-20
3. Ezek.30:3; 32:7-8
The day is a period of time.
The day is clearly the judgment of God.
The day is said to “come as a thief in the night”. (1 Thes.5:2; 2 Peter 3:10)
The day looks to the second advent of Christ, when He shall judge the nations of the world. (Rev.19)
