Some info on Mark 16:9-20

Textual variant: Textual variants in the New Testament manuscripts arise when a copyist makes deliberate or inadvertent alterations to the text that is being reproduced
“The variant readings about which any doubt remains among textual critics of the New Testament affect no material question of historic fact or of Christian faith and practice” FF Bruce
There is no contradiction to the message of Jesus or the Bible in the passage, therefore, it seems helpful to leave in.

The command of the resurrected Jesus

Starts in verse 7, before all the other commands.
Go and tell
Jesus tells the disciples to go out and spread the Gospel
Now that He is risen,He tells them to go out and tell everybody
The Gospel is a free gift that comes with a command

The Power of Jesus

Jesus doesn’t leave us hanging
It doesn’t say that everything that He says will happen, but He makes a strong case that things that we think are impossible will be taken care of by God
You might not handle snakes, but the impossible things that God calls you to is taken care of by a God who has the power to do so.
Now that we know who Jesus is, and we’ve seen what He can do, and the sacrifice He gave to save you, we can see that He has the power to take care of us, and enable us to follow the command of the Gospel
1. What do you think about the textual variant in Mark 16:9-20 (I will define the term textual variant, so the students won't be so confused)
2. Why does the Gospel come with a command?
3. How has God shown how powerful He is in taking care of you?
