Intro and Frame Sermon
We are in the Servant songs, Isaiah was written over 500 years before the birth of Christ
Last week we went through first servant song | We looked at God’s Mercy & Judgement, and who Jesus came for.
It is a series on God’s Saving Grace - his etermal purpose of redemption and he works that eternal purpose in Histry. As we walk through this series, My hope is that we gain a deeper understanding of who Jesus was, and what that means for our lives.
I said each week we would read & Study the scripture then study verse by verse then see how it applies to our life.
This week we are on the “Servant of Calling” - What does it mean, to be called by Jesus - A few weeks I spoke about we are called to a “Who” before we are called to a “do” - Today, I want to talk a little bit about that do.

Listen to me, O coastlands,
and give attention, you peoples from afar.
The Lord called me from the womb,
from the body of my mother he named my name.
He made my mouth like a sharp sword;
in the shadow of his hand he hid me;
he made me a polished arrow;
in his quiver he hid me away.
First two verses is enough to argue the diety of Christ right? SCREAMING HE IS MESSIAH |
Who is speaking in verse 1? Listen to me | no other prophet says it like this, it’s God, LISTEN TO ME. not isaiah.
How amazing is this fact | Scripture written to the Jews in OT for what? All Nations, to be read AFTER Jesus Resurection. This is a time where Gentiles ARE NOT God’s people. Written to Prophesy, written to reach back and proove Messiah - GOD OUTSIDE TIME |
“The Lord called me from the Womb” - Luke 30, form Mary right. The Bible can back itself up - Challenge it, God can handle it;

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Proverbs 30:4 (ESV)
Who has ascended to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in his fists?
Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name, and what is his son’s name?
Surely you know!

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

What is this hidden? God has taken this Messiah Servant, in this form and hidden him away | he has always “been” but not always “Revealed”
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
And he said to me, “You are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will be glorified.”
But I said, “I have labored in vain;
I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity;
yet surely my right is with the Lord,
and my recompense with my God.”
God father, says to God the son | You are my servant - Messiah |
Then he talks about “I have labored in vain” - He is saying “My efforts are useless” - This is the first hint at the opposition Jesus will come up against | yet what? my right is with the lord and recompense with my God - Do you feel what you do is useless?

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
And now the Lord says,
he who formed me from the womb to be his servant,
to bring Jacob back to him;
and that Israel might be gathered to him—
for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord,
and my God has become my strength—
he says:
“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to bring back the preserved of Israel;
I will make you as a light for the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
Thus says the Lord,
the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One,
to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation,
the servant of rulers:
“Kings shall see and arise;
princes, and they shall prostrate themselves;
because of the Lord, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Jesus was Called - To be our salvation.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus was called buy God the Father and God the Son chose to become flesh, and die, for our sins. Jesus did something Different.
I want to talk about Calling.

A call to be Different
Last time, called to a “Who” before “do” - You are called to different standard.
You are Chosen - you are Called.
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
Instruction to live Differently - When we live differently, people see you differently | I want to urge someone to live BOLDLY | Someone will see it and go…hmmmm
Best defence is what, a good offence…to SHOW the goodness of God.
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Goes against everything the world will tell you | This is not ‘normal’ by the worlds standards - but it is normal by the WORDS standards.
This is the TRUTH | It’s sad when we actively create narratives to support an agenda to avoid ‘going there’ on difficult scriptures that no longer fit in the world | SET APART | Only difficult because the world is changing | Paul: Don’t be conformed | Active warning against it
Bible Super Clear about persecution and suffering that we will face but to HOLD FAST to SALVATION that we have been given and what is coming in face of adversity.
The problem is not whether people want the Bible, biblical truth or God, it’s whetehr they want ‘truth’ to operate in their lives. if the answer is YES, there is not a difficult scripture - just difficult application, because we fall short - that’s why JESUS CAME. That’s what we are talking about - This is a CALL - TO LIVE DIFFERENTLY THEN THE WORLD- For both the Save and the UNSAVED.
**I was seeking truth, I found God, and even after I repeatedly rejected him, he never rejected me - That’s truth, it’s a beautiful love story - my eyes were opened, and now I will give my LIFE to defend that truth because of his great love. I will give my Life to protect this flock because that is the assignemnt I have been given. There is no bad Truth, it’s all good.
Daily call to live a different life - We don’t repay evil with evil | What do we do? We pay it back with blessing | What did God do? How did he repay our Guilt? with Smiting us? No, his Son, do Die, for us, on the Cross.
you’re “on Call” to love someone that is in need. To feed someone that is hungry, to say “hey man, you need some help”. Where are the needs of this church?
Who are we?? We are lovers of the TRUTH, we are Faith Filled, Spirit Lead, Truth Seeking Warriors of God - we will Love Irrationally, Give generously, we will not insult God with small thinking but have FAITH that he is building his Church.
For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
You have been called to do GOOD - to FOLLOW JESUS | What does that mean? What does it mean to FOLLOW JESUS? Where is he going? Follow him…to mission.

And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. “It’s the way you LIVE is how you silence the talk from people that don’t know better”
If they have not felt the love of Christ, they do not know, but you do.
People may persecute, we will not persecute back, we will love irrationally | We will give generously, we will be spiritual contributors not spiritual consumers and we will…live…differently to the world.
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
