Perspective

Perspective: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.
Your point of view…
Acts 3:2 ESV
And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.
Acts 4:21 tells us that this man was forty years old…
Lame: crippled adjs. — disabled in the feet or legs.
Crippled from birth....
He did not have the ability to walk
He was dependent…
“Was being carried”
Whom “they” laid daily as the gate of the temple!
He’s laid at the gate to ask alms of those entering in “daily”
He was asking about goods or money daily!
I want to talk about 3 perspectives:
#1 “Those entering the gate”
What was there point of view…
If it was me.... It depends on a few things.
If I was going to the temple in the morning…
If I’m watching him being carried and placed.
So many thoughts are running in my mind.
I’m looking at what they are using to carry him in…
I’m looking at his clothes.
I’m looking at the people carrying him.
I’m looking at His condition.
If I’m going to the Temple in the afternoon…
I’m looking at Him asking for Help…
Yes I would have sympathy…
But would I give every time?
My point of view is connected to my senses…
I know I would have connected him to a person or a situation.
Let’s be honest…
We have a lot going on in our on lives!
I’m coming to the temple but this man is not my focus…
#2 The second perspective is the perspective of “They”
The Bible said they carried Him daily to the temple…
What was the point of view of they…
Trust me “they” can be good and “they” can be bad
Not only do they have to drop you off… They have to take you home…
Maybe “they” felt like this was their calling!
Maybe “they” never complained
Maybe “They” were relatives
And we don’t know if “they” were compensated
Because I know some “they’s”
They want gas money
“They” will post subliminal messages of social media
“They” will tell everybody what they do for you!
Maybe “they” we using his disability for a profit
And lets remember “They” have a life too!
#3 His perspective of Himself.... Those / They / Him
Crippled from birth!
It wasn’t an accident
He didn’t have control over it!
I’m just born to deal with it!
I need some people with empathy....
Born crippled
Either I can give up or deal with it and make it work!
Not being able to run and play
Not being able to get up and go when I feel like it
Dependent
I have to deal with the “Those” and the “They’s”
I might not have been crippled physically
but I have to deal with some stuff all my life…
Some stuff I was born in and born with!
I had to deal with with all 3 perspectives
The Good / The Bad / The Ugly of all three
(Tell The Story)
Acts 3:3–8 ESV
Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
But....
Acts 4:1–2 ESV
And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
Perspective!
The problem was the traditional religious system was flipped upside down!
They put Peter and John in prison for the night!
They wanted to know by what power or name did you do this?
Acts 4:9–11 ESV
if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone.
Don’t get it twisted.....
They only reason why you went from lying to Standing…
Jesus is still the right perspective!
