Introduction & Recap (Slide 2)
“Good morning, my name is Troy Stanley, and I’m the Lead Pastor here at FCCCB.
I’d like to welcome all of our guests here today!
And I’d like to say hello to everyone watching this online.
I want to start today by saying that in order to be right with God we have to be real with God.. (Slide 3)
Hebrews 4:13 (Slide 5)
13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Psalms 139 (Slide 6)
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely. 5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

Let's take a look at a great Bible character that had a major failure
Explanation
David. Israel’s most important king. David’s kingdom represented the peak of Israel’s power and influence during the nation’s OT history. The two books in the OT devoted to David’s reign are 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles. His earlier years are recorded in 1 Samuel, beginning at chapter 16. Almost half of the biblical psalms are ascribed to David. His importance extends into the NT, where he is identified as an ancestor of Jesus Christ and as a forerunner of the messianic king. Jesus

Nathan Rebukes David
12 The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, 3 but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.
4 “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.”
5 David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.”
7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. 9 Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’
11 “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity on you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight. 12 You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’ ”
13 Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”
Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.
Application
What will you do when your, Nathan confronts you (Slide 14)
We you are confronted with your sin
I know that David’s failure is extreme but we all have failures that displease God
We hold grudges against others
We don’t assume the best
We gossip
We judge others
We can be selfish
We lie
We cheat
You know what you have done that displeases God
What did you do when your Nathan showed up
Did you repent or did you make excuses
Maybe today you are coming to terms with your sin.
Today you can like David acknowledge your sin and receive forgiveness just as David did.
We have a merciful God and he is true and just and will forgive you.
Today God is waiting for you, loves you and would love for you to return to Him. (Call to action) (Slide 18)
Today we are going to celebrate communion a little different. Before we have communion I would us to together corporately deal with the sin in our lives today by confessing like David did in Psalm 51
Psalm 51
For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
Almighty God, to you are hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Song “Search Me”
Pass the communion elements and hold them.
Lord, the presents of wine and bread remind us that you are indeed among us. In your presence, we are acutely aware of our sinfulness. Therefore, we come before you as a body to face and confess together what we might not face alone.
We confess; (Slides 23,23)
That we have done good works, but left much undone
That we have loved you, but not with our whole heart
That we have loved our neighbors, but not as ourselves
That we are human, but at times are inhuman
That we are rich, but often do not share
That we have received grace, but often do not give it
That we are selfish, but often refuse to love ourselves
That we are blessed, but often fail to bless others
These things we confess and humbly repent.
Our Father in heaven forgive us of the sins we have committed against you. Father as we prepare to remember what your son Jesus did on the cross for us purify us and restore us.
Father, we ask you to bless this bread that represents Jesus’ body sacrificed for us. Father we ask you to bless this fruit of the vine that represents Jesus’ blood that covers our sins
Invitation and call to action
