john 3:16

John 3:16 NKJV
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God sent his “only begotten son” (vs 16)

Jesus had to be perfect.
this was a fulfillment of the Old Testament scripture of having to sacrifice the best you had for the atonement of your sins. (Lev. 22:19-23)
Leviticus 22:19–23 NKJV
you shall offer of your own free will a male without blemish from the cattle, from the sheep, or from the goats. Whatever has a defect, you shall not offer, for it shall not be acceptable on your behalf. And whoever offers a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord, to fulfill his vow, or a freewill offering from the cattle or the sheep, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it. Those that are blind or broken or maimed, or have an ulcer or eczema or scabs, you shall not offer to the Lord, nor make an offering by fire of them on the altar to the Lord. Either a bull or a lamb that has any limb too long or too short you may offer as a freewill offering, but for a vow it shall not be accepted.
he had to be without sin because sin separates us from God. (Isaiah 59:2-3)
Isaiah 59:2–3 NKJV
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity.

“but have everlasting life”

Jesus became and took our sins (2 Cor 5:21)
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
He became sin who knew no sin (2 Cor 5:21)
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
we know that we cannot enter into heaven with sin (1 Cor. 6:9-11)
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 NKJV
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
by Jesus becoming sin and conquering death he bridge the gap and covered our sins by the blood.

freedom in Christ (vs17a)

if you are saved he does not condemn you (vs. 17A)
just because God doesn’t condemn you does not give you the right to sin Whenever you want.
God wants to give you a life in him (vs 17b)
this is a victorious life in Christ.
this does no mean life will be easy! In fact life will probably get harder
satan will try everything in his power to get your mind off of Christ.
but he can’t win. Satan is pointing an empty gun at you when he tells You that you don’t add up.
a victorious life is not of of tying a knot into your rope and hanging on, but of victory and ability in Christ to climb that rope and be who God wants you to be. He wants to see you succeed in his will and word. Not worldly things
