What is so Important about Thanksgiving?
Ephesians 5:18-20KJV
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Intro: We call it everything from “Thanksgiving” to “Turkey Day” and we look forward to it because of a lot of different reasons; ball games, parades, eating, seeing family or friends. So what is so important about Thanksgiving? A lot of things! A thankful heart recognizes God as our provider and thanks Him for doing just that providing! A thankful heart sees past the difficulties and burdens of life and sees God as our Lord and Savior!
1. When should we be thankful?
- Always! In good times and bad, on holidays weekends and weekdays.

16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
2. What should we be thankful for?
- For God’s pardon to all of us; remember we don’t deserve it!
Romans 6:17-18KJV
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. 20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

3. How can we be thankful?
- In the name of the Lord.
- Recognize what he has given you, testify of it at home at church at the dinner table.
- Because of who He is.
4. On the day of Thanksgiving as all others to whom do we give thanks?
- That one is easy to God the Father
- For all good gifts!
