Matthew 13:53–58 (NIV84)
53 When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there.
54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.
55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”
57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.”
58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
1. Faith sets the atmosphere for miracles
1. Faith sets the atmosphere for miracles
6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Jesus did not do many miracles in the place where there was a lack of faith
Faith is a great igniter of miracles
We need faith to experience our miracles
The pandemic attacked the faith of many
The pandemic took believers out of the Houses of Worship
Faith come by hearing and hearing by the Word of the Lord
We need to be in the House to increase our faith
Without faith we can’t please God
Today, you need faith to leave this place with a miracle
A centurion demonstrated great faith when he asked Jesus to just say the Word
Faith drove the woman with an issue of blood to go through the crowd to get to the King
You must be willing to get dirty to get clean, she must have been on the ground
A blind man was shouting for his miracle, his faith encouraged him to shout for Jesus
Do you have shouting faith
Now Faith is needed for the current trial
After the fact faith is just fear
Now Faith develops Tried Faith
Tried Faith, like Job prolonged adversity
Like Abraham, a call to sacrifice
Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they did not bend the knee
Tried Faith leads to Yet Faith
Against all hope you must have hope
If what you see discourages you—then close your eyes
If what you see is all you can see then you haven’t seen what God has for you
Facts can weaken your faith
FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real
Facts focus on the temporary
In spite of what you have experienced—Yet Faith
17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.
2. Labor for your miracles
2. Labor for your miracles
20 Truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice. You will become sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.
21 When a woman is in labor, she has pain because her time has come. But when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a person has been born into the world.
22 So you also have sorrow now. But I will see you again. Your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy from you.
Pain is an indicator that your time has come
If you can talk about your pain, you are not ready for the deliverance
If you can talk about those that hurt you, you are not ready for deliverance
You are in labor for your miracle
How much do you want your miracle
You have to focus
Focus your prayer
Focus your travail
The miracle will make all the pain disappear
Time to push that baby out
3. Be Open and obedient to the miraculous
3. Be Open and obedient to the miraculous
You have to be open to experience what you have never experienced—that is a miracle
Miracle: an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs (Webster)
An act in which God reveals Himself to man
Contrary to human nature
The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet
You can’t speak what you do not believe
You can’t experience what you do not believe
If you want to experience miracles you must be open to that experience
I have seen demons cast out
I have seen cancer healed
I have seen crooked legs become straight
I have seen deaf ears open up
God is still able to exceed our expectations
We need forward faith
Obeys the promise
Obedience is not obedience until action follows
Obedience does not require complete understanding
Wax on Danielson
Seek the promise
Getting the promise requires you go take it
You have to knock on doors or knock the door down
Believe the promise
Hope for the promise
If you what you are living does not align with the plan of God keep seeking
4. Worship precedes and proceeds miracles
4. Worship precedes and proceeds miracles
Offer yourself as a living sacrifice
At the dedication of the temple, Solomon worshipped
13 The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.” Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud,
14 and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.
Then in chapter 7, the Lord filled the temple he said, “If my people”
We need worship and we will see signs and wonders
We need our nation to worship
We need our states to worship
We need our cities to worship
We need our churches to worship
Signs and wonders will begin after worship
