1 Samuel 27:1 KJV 1900
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
David thoughts , inner conscience, and heart did not line up with God’s word or his promises. David had wrong thinking.
Question 1: What is wrong thinking and why is important to think right?

1. Wrong thinking is defined as thinking that is not in alignment with God’s will, plans, and purposes.

2.What a person says/ thinks in their heart is more important that what they say with their mouth.

Matthew 15:8 KJV 1900
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Salvation comes when we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth.
Confession with belief is empty words.
Romans 10:9 KJV 1900
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Question 2: Why was critical for David not to have wrong thinking in his heart?

3. The wrong thinking in David’s heart caused him to imagine his death by the hand of Saul. (something that never happened.)

What has wrong thinking in our heart cause us to do or imagine? Wrong think torment our mind get us in fear, confusion, doubt and disobedience.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV 1900)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Ungodly imagination should be cast down and replaced with Godly imagination. ( Imaginations are pictures on the inside.

4.Wrong thinking and imaginations lead to wrong actions and decisions.

2 And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath. 3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s wife. 4 And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.

5. Wrong thinking leads to ungodly connections , counsel , and soul ties.

5 And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee? 6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day. 7 And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.

Psalm 1 KJV 1900
Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

6. Wrong thinking hinders a believer’s God given purpose and causes them to turn from the truth and become slaves to their sinful nature.

1 Samuel 27:8–12 KJV 1900
And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt. And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish. And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites. And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines. And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
Question 3: What does God wants for His people?

7. God wants us to have right thinking.

Philippians 4:8 KJV 1900
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

8. God wants us to be in right-standing with Him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV 1900
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
God wants us to be transformed into the people he called us to be.
Example in nature- transformation
A parrot can say be taught the right thing but in his heart he is still a parrot. - Near with mouth heart for away.
On the other hand, a caterpillar goes through a process that cause a metamorphosis - where changes from the inside. It transformed to a new creature- A butterfly.
God want us to transformed by the renewing of out mind Romans 12: 1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The doors of the church and the door of the God’s kingdom is opened.
