Introduction

“The way to God is a one-way street that dead ends at Jesus.”
Do we believe this? Do we believe this—not just in word—but in deed and in truth? In other words, if we believe this, does that belief motivate us to tell others about Jesus—the only way of salvation?

Major Ideas

John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Jesus was speaking to Thomas, one of the disciples who had been following Jesus for a few years, but Jesus was now talking about going away. He also said that disciples like Thomas knew the way to where He was going and would eventually join Him there.
But Thomas was confused, so he asked, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” (John 14:5)
Jesus told him where He was going and how to get there with one statement in John 14:6
John 14:6 NASB95
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Jesus was going to the Father, and the way to the Father is through Jesus.
As we heard in the video, Jesus is…
… the way - because we are lost without Him
… the truth - because we are confused without Him
… and the life - because we are hopeless without Him
… NO ONE comes to the Father but through Him.
To go to the Father is to go to Heaven; it is to go to salvation. It is to go to love. It is to go to eternal joy and happiness. It is to go to the presence of divine glory and holiness. It is to go to no more tears, pain, suffering, or death. It is to go to the only escape from the wrath of God on sin. And the only way there is Jesus.
The only way there is faith in Jesus as Savior.
The only proof of this faith is following Jesus as Lord.
If this is what we believe then this is what we must confidently share with others as God provides us opportunity.
But what if we don’t share? What does it mean if John 14:6 doesn’t motivate us?
It might mean that we don’t think Jesus was right.
The world doesn’t believe He was right.

It might mean that we don’t think about the salvation of souls.
People are precious because they are made in the image of God. They have intrinsic value no matter who they are. God desires everyone of them to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim. 2:4).
If He does, then so should we.
It might mean that we don’t think about the Father’s glory.
[ILLUS] Super Summer, David Platt, “If we don’t have a passion to bring people into the Kingdom, maybe its because we don’t have a passion for the King.”
Do we have passion for the King?
If not, this is where we must start.
Let us confess our lack of passion, and let us ask Him for the passion we should have—passion to bring people into the Kingdom—passion for Him.

Conclusion

We are going to respond in two ways tonight.
We’ll respond in prayer now as we confess and ask the Father for what we need to share Jesus with others.
And then we’ll respond with a hymn of commitment—committing ourselves to the task of telling others.
Let’s take a moment to confess and ask quietly, I’ll close us, and then Stan, Dani, and Kim will come lead us.
