Pastoral Welcome

Welcome to worship it is me pastor Lewis from the video you just saw and I am joined in the room by pastor Angie also from the video you just saw.
I am excited to hear Pastor Angie preach this morning as we continue in our What’s Inside series? Is the church full of people who have it all figured out? Is the church full of broken people? What makes the church the church? Well you’ll want to make sure to stick around to figure out.
In the meantime I invite you to stand as you are able to sing together.

Call To Worship

Come as you are into the light of God.
Come into the presence of holy Love.
Come receive mercy and forgiveness.
We come with joy to walk in the light of God’s grace and dwell in God’s presence.
Let us worship God together!

Pastoral Prayer

Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
More than that Lord God we remember
that Christ Died for us while we were still sinner.
Even when Christ knew we might still sin in the future,
and that proves of your love for us.
It is with gratitude in our hearts that we are able to worship as forgiven people.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
Lord as we confess of our sin to you help to also confess of the love that we have felt from you.
Help us to confess of the forgiveness we have received to those who might need to hear that.
God we pray for the community of Ankeny Iowa, and we pray that we might be faithful people and fruitful disciples. That others might see you through us. Lord God, help none to see us and all to see you.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
God we confess of structural sins that we sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly contribute to. We confess to you of the sins of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, agism, xenophobia, and so many more that we might not even know how to name yet. We confess that we are still learning how to love each other. We confess the sins of hatred, and bigotry. God we ask once again for your grace and you power to accept the freedom that you give us to resist evil, injustice, and oppression, in whatever forms they present themselves.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
We confess Lord God that we are powerless over so much. Sometimes we feel powerless over illnesses and injuries, often we feel powerless over death itself. We lift up those that are hearing this prayer and holding grief in their heart over the loss of a loved one this morning. We pray that in suffering they might find hope and in death they might find resurection.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
Lord God be with the guides in our life. May we know of your pressence through our leaders, counselors, and mentors. Help us to learn how to confess of our shortcomings, and accept the grace that you have offered us. God be with us as we extend that also to the leaders in our lives. Help us to show the Grace and forgiveness you have shown to us to everyone around us.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
Now Lord God, we confess to you the things that are on our own hearts and minds. Things that you already know of, but we bring raise to you in this time our own person sin struggles, the things that are bringing us, and the people that we are giving thanks for this morning.
lord in your mercy, Hear Our Prayer
Together we pray as you taught your disciples to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
Amen.
