These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Introduction:
This story starts out to many of us, as a sad moment in history for two sisters, Mary and Martha.
There brother had died from some type of sickness, their hearts were broken, not only for their brother, but for the lack of concern Jesus had. They assumed Jesus loved Lazarus. But because of his delay In coming their attitude changed.
They probably believe that if someone allows someone to suffer when they could have intervene and made a different, they could not have truly cared.
This is the thinking of the carnal mind with natural thoughts.
But this is so far from the truth.
God ways are far beyond our ways, His thoughts is above ours.
We as christian’s must come grip with this spiritual truths:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God loves and He cares.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
When we observe death through the eye of our Lord, he related it to sleep.
Sleep - a condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the muscles relaxes, and consciousness practically suspended.
Spiritual Sleep - You cease to exist any longer consciously in this world, we are no longer able me make anymore decisions or even hold any conversions In this world. There is no communication with those who Jesus said is asleep.
Death - mean separation from God eternally.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Do you not understand that our sicknesses, our diseases, the horrible destruction of our bodies is not unto death, but for the glory of God.
If you are a Christian.
I believe there is a deeper revelation to these scriptures.
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
Do you know where you’re going, are you walking in the light.
Mom words: I’ll see what He has for me.
This scripture was written for believers who walk in Christ who have a set appointment to meet their creator.
But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
This scripture speak of those who know not the Lord. They are walking on a slippery path and could face death at anytime.
These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Jesus Will Come For All Believer In Christ When They Fall Asleep Or Die In Christ.
Death has no power over Christ.
Jesus has the keys of death and the grave.
Jesus Call Lazarus by name.
Jesus said lose him and let him go. (no more pain, no more suffering, no more death, no more tears)
The Apostle Paul understood it:
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
My mom is not gone nor cease to exist, she only have changed.
Let me speak briefly to those may know nothing of that which I speak of.
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Funeral service comforts the family of the departed, and gives a warning to those who walk in darkness.
