Revelation 5:5-6

The Nature of a Lion—Roar

I Like being the Leader”

“I say what I think.”

“I don’t like a lot of rules.”

“I hate to lose games”

“I’m not easily scared”

“I like to be the best in school”

“I like to protect others”

The Nature of a Lamb—Baa

“I don’t push to have my way”

“I’m kind to others”

“I don’t like big changes”

“I want to please others.”

“I like to listen”

“I like to help others”

These are all strengths, but if pushed to an extreme, can become weaknesses, especially in relationships.

For example:

Lions can be so driven to get things done, they can become too bossy and hurt the feelings of others…Roaring at others.

Lambs love to serve people, but that can become a problem if you end up being a “people-pleaser”, saying “yes, yes” when you should say “No!”

Lambs…avoiding problems by every means, “Let’s talk about that later”

Message of Lambs to Lions— “Slow your roll”

Message of Lions to Lambs— “Man Up! Woman Up!”

Isaiah 11 and Revelation 5 offer us a picture of Christian balance, harmony and Shalom (wholeness).

In order for the lion to lie down with the lamb (and not eat it),

the lion must gain the nature of the lamb.

In order for the lamb to lie down with the lion (and not be scared or intimidated),

the lamb must get hold of the nature of the lamb.

Some say, “This is how I am. I can’t change the way I am…I like to roar (anger), and hunt down and rip up others (with my words).”

Others say, “This is the way I am. I run from challenges. I’m afraid to stand up for myself.”

If you have the Spirit of Jesus within you, You have the nature of Christ within you—the Lion and the Lamb.

The Spirit of the Lion of Judah roars against Satan and tears down his evil kingdom—casts out devils and sicknesses. Fights for truth and the Righteousness of God.

LESSON TO PARENTS—NURTURE THE DUAL NATURE OF CHRIST IN YOUR CHILDREN

But that’s not the way it will be with you. Whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant. Jesus told His students, “I am among you as one who serves.” Matthew 20:26

The greatest among you will be your servant.

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matt. 23:11-12

The Lion and the Lamb—Assertiveness and Humility The Lion and the Lamb—The Leader and the Follower The Lion and the Lamb—The Teacher and the Student The Lion and the Lamb—The Master and the Servant In everyday life, many people see humility and assertiveness as opposites. Yet they aren't. Humble doesn't mean timid and assertiveness doesn't mean bossy nor arrogant. You can have great self-esteem, be assertive, and still live with humility and think of others.

The best teacher (parent) is a student—learning from the learner.

Question: What are you learning about your students / co-workers / children? Conversely, what are you learning about your parents / supervisor / co-workers?

What are you learning about yourself? How can I improve, especially given I can’t change others? Being a lamb means becoming a willing student--staying humble. Then using what I learn gives me the ability to be a better parent and teacher.

The best leader is a follower and the best follower a leader. We grow into the fullness of God’s purpose when we learn how to be both the Lion and the lamb. There is a time to roar… There is a time to lie down and baa(most sheep baa for contact communication) Unfortunately, overconfident leaders see humility as a weakness or inadequacy.

Humility helps you see your blind spots, own up to your mistakes, and develop your problem-solving skills. Bad lions are dangerous, threatening, devouring of others—they lack the nature of the Lamb within.

Revelation 5 shows the Lamb as the Dominant nature engulfing the figure of the Lion. It is sad that, overconfident leaders see humility as a weakness or inadequacy. In reality, humility is foundation of true greatness.

Amazingly, in Revelation 5 and 6, it is the Lamb who received all of the honors identified with the Lion.

The Lion of Judah exercised unparalleled authority because He became the Lamb of God.

The same is true for us:

Both the Natures of the Lion and the Lamb must operate within you;

To Enable You to Open the Scroll of God’s Purpose for Your Life.

You Must Exercise the Courage of a Lion to Break the Seal.

You Must be willing to pay the price as a Lamb
